Collect of the Day
Good and gracious God,
who gave us your Son,
the Lord of the universe, wrapped in swaddling clothes,
the Saviour of all, lying in a manger:
on this holy night draw us into the mystery of your love.
Join our voices with the heavenly host
that we may sing your glory on high.
Give us a place among the shepherds
that we may find the one for whom we have waited,
Jesus Christ, the Messiah and Lord,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh Nation, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.
A note from Helen
For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. This year has not been an easy one, wars, civil unrest, natural disasters, all pile on top of each other and we struggle to see much hope in what is to come. But we are promised hope, hope was born for us this day in Bethlehem and hope is born for us each and every day, because God is with us now and forever. Christmas reveals to us unlikely incarnations, in Bethlehem and in our lives today. God comes to the places that hurt the most, the places where trouble seems insurmountable. Christmas reveals to us the Infinite in the finite and God in humankind.

Come join us round the Labyrinth at 6pm for a quiet time of reflection and preparation for new beginnings for the New Year. Bring a ‘Pot Luck’ supper to share and whatever you would like to drink.

Lent starts early next year (Feb 14) and as a Lenten Study we will be using the ABM resource – God’s Own Country. We give you thanks and praise, dear Father for your gift of your son Jesus, this Christmastide. Our glowing tree signals our joy and happiness at his coming. We pray that we learn to live as he has directed us, loving you and our neighbour as ourselves.

We give you thanks and praise, dear Father for your gift of the marvellous earth which sustains us. We pray for the health and the future of the world. Guide us in our use of its riches, and we pray that all peoples have fair access to water, arable land and life-sustaining resources. We pray for those suffering from the affects of cyclones, and for those that come willingly to support ravaged communities.
