ENJOY THE GLORY
This is my final Sunday with you. I’ve enjoyed sharing the best part of a year with you, I’ve enjoyed sharing silly stories and video clips in sermons and I’ve enjoyed sharing photos on notice sheets. The one on the front was Curtis Falls on a day when the light was playing on the surface of the water; It looked even more glorious than normal.
As we begin a new year, the lectionary gives us psalm 8 today. The psalmist asks God “What is mankind that you are mindful of them… you have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory”
God’s glory is promised to illuminate our days for eternity, but right now try to glimpse a bit of that glory every day this year. Let the light of our glorious God shine on you each morning. The glory of God has been bestowed upon creation: waterfalls, forests, but also human beings.
However, sometimes when we see something glorious in others we try to dim it out, we pull the blinds down in our hearts, we refuse to appreciate it because we are envious that we don’t shine so bright. Try not to do that this year! Try to enjoy the glory of God wherever, and in whoever, you find it. It all comes from God remember. People you meet this year have been blessed by God, but so have you, and I’ll leave you with the words of the Aaronic blessing, our Old Testament reading for today:
May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you, May the Lord turn His face towards you and give you His peace. The blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be among you and remain with you always. Amen
Tom

This week’s intercessions: Prepared by Jan
Heavenly Father, you loved the world so much that you sent your only Son to die for us and show us how to live for you as your children and heirs. As we give you praise and worship, help us to be mindful that all we have is a gift from you. Guide us to love and care for the world around us, all people, animal and plant life and the whole natural world. As we step into 2023 may we commit ourselves anew to be worthy guardians of your creation.
May we so live our lives, all through this year, that your name will be glorified in all the Earth.
Holy God, as you sent the spirit of your Son into our hearts, may we daily seek to do your will. We pray for the world-wide Anglican Communion especially in areas of our world still in conflict in 2023. We pray for Archbishop Philip, Regional Bishop John, Reverend Tom and his family and our new locum priest, Reverend Helen.
May we so live our lives, all through this year, that your name will be glorified in all the Earth.
Loving God, whose will is for all mankind to love and worship you, may we be amazed anew at your power and glory. Equip us with courageous and loving hearts that we may spread your word through our community. May we daily be witnesses to your love and care, continually glorifying and praising your holy name. Help us to be practical Christians, as members of our local community.
May we so live our lives, all through this year, that your name will be glorified in all the Earth.
Faithful God, we thank you for all those who lived their lives reflecting your love and who are now dwelling with you for eternity. We especially remember those whose year’s mind occurs at this time. Generous God, you know our hearts and our hurts. We pray especially for those who have asked for our prayers whom we name aloud or in the silence of our hearts……….Bless them all.
May we so live our lives, all through this year, that your name will be glorified in all the Earth.
Throughout 2023, may the Lord bless us and keep us, may his face shine upon us and be gracious to us, may he give us his peace.

January Retiring Collection: School Chaplaincy
School Chaplaincy is a wonderful ministry to children and staff, there are times as well when Chappys need to support families through a crisis. In our modern OZ society, the school is very much the first port of call when families are in trouble. The Trivia night that the chaplaincy committee held last year raised over $500 for chaplaincy support as well as about $500 for the Dorothy Fund, set up to help with family needs. All of the Dorothy money has already been spent. There are two chaplains in our local area, Nadine at Tamborine Mountain primary and Jodie at St Bernard's primary. We badly need a chaplain at Canungra primary.
