 Fr Harry writes:

For reasons beyond my control or intent, in the lead up to Ministry Sunday on the 14th November, our ever thrifty and indefatigable Treasurer and Canungra District Warden, John King, will present a power point presentation outlining the Parish  Finances and the challenge for the immediate and long term future of the Parish.

Parishioners will receive a letter from our scholarly Stewardship Chairman, Keith Slater, next week inviting your attendance on the 14th November to offer your support for Ministry.  Thank you to Keith and members of the Stewardship Committee for their efforts in preparing for Ministry Sunday.

We have much to thank God for in our Parish life as we continue to pray for a new Incumbent.   The Locum period provides us with time for reflection and planning for the future.

I commend to you this request remembering the many gifts God bestows on us as God’s people in this place.

With my best wishes, Fr Harry

Prayers of the people  Prepared by David A

God of love, turn our hearts to your ways, and give us peace.

May we walk in the risen light and show your glory to all the world.

Christ Jesus, before ascending into heaven, you promised to send the Holy Spirit to your apostles and disciples. Grant the same Spirit may be in our lives, in the work of your grace and love. With you and, with courage, may we overcome the obstacles that interfere with our salvation; Teach us to be your faithful disciple and animate us in every way.

May we walk in the risen light and show your glory to all the world.

Trusting in you Christ Jesus we join one another as a community, a community of faith on a journey. A journey to grow ever deeper in our faith. Along the way, remind us of your love, of your sacrifice for us, of your ever-mindful presence.

Let us never lose hope along our journey.

May we walk in the risen light and show your glory to all the world.

We hold before you those who are homeless and cold. Draw near and comfort them in spirit and bless those who work to provide them with shelter, food, and friendship. Please accept the prayers of your people in the multitude of your mercies and look with compassion upon all who turn to you for help.

May we walk in the risen light and show your glory to all the world.

In your hands, Christ Jesus, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters who have left this mortal world. In this life, you embraced them with your tender love, deliver them now from every evil and bid them eternal rest.

Welcome them into paradise where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain but fullness of peace and joy with you and the Holy Spirit forever.

May we walk in the risen light and show your glory to all the world.

Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers, Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

 Labyrinth Message

This week's labyrinth message for you to "walk with" is : Have you ever given or received a very expensive gift ...and it really "missed the mark"? How did you feel ?

This week's Gospel highlights an amazing [ and confronting ] gift from a woman to Jesus …it was "right on the mark" for Him .. but others didn't see it that way….

The Gospel highlights Jesus' gracious acceptance of that gifting.. representing His total affirmation of the giver. It also acknowledged her deep spiritual insights as to His upcoming sacrifice -  often opaque to even His disciples.

During this week, I wonder if we can set aside making a cynical response to an act of love we witness … or, perhaps, even allow ourselves to "go the extra mile" in extravagant agape love for someone God calls us to encourage or assist ?

All Saints and All Souls Day

On Sunday, 31st October, we will be keeping All Saints’ day (1st November) and All Souls’ Day (2nd November). During the service there will be the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed when the names of our departed loved ones are read out and prayed for and a candle lit in their memory.

If you would like someone’s name read out please PRINT their names clearly on the list at the church entrance at St George’s and St Luke’s or email them to the office tamborinemountain@anglicanchurchsq.org.au
