‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life,’ says the Lord.
‘No one comes to the Father except through me.’
John 14.6
Collect of the Day
Everliving God,
whose Son Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life:
give us grace to love one another,
to follow in the way of his commandments,
and to share his risen life;
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Collect of Commitment
Gracious Father,
who in your great mercy made glad the disciples
with the sight of the risen Lord:
give us such awareness of his presence with us
that we may be strengthened and sustained by his risen life,
and serve you continually in righteousness and truth;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – White
Readings: Acts 7.55-60; Psalm 31.1-5,17-18; 1 Peter 2.11-25; John 14.1-14
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh Nation, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.
A note from Helen
‘Lord, do not hold this sin against them.’ These words from Stephen just before he died resemble closely the words of Jesus on the cross “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do”. And the question to us today is how readily would we offer this prayer for those who wrong us. Society is not always very forgiving. In fact, if you are seen to not ‘get even’ or at least ‘hold them to answer’ for what another person has done to us, society labels us as ‘weak’, or ‘insipid’. But, I think, forgiveness starts with ‘me’. If I cannot forgive the other person, then the pain, and the wrong, stays with me and I end up punishing myself by ‘holding on’ to the wrong rather than ‘letting it go’. I can only know freedom if I do not hold on to the hurt, the pain, the injury that others have caused me. It doesn’t matter if the other does not recognise that they have wronged me, it doesn’t matter that they do not accept my forgiveness or even that I offer it ‘out loud’; so long as I am able to ‘inwardly’ let go of the injury so that I can once again live a free and God-filled life.

Intercessions prepared by Keith
Everliving God, we give you thanks that you sent your Son to be our way, our truth and our life. We bring our prayers for the world, the church, and for one another before you.
We pray for the world: We pray that the gift of life is handled with gentle hands as we care for your creation, as we tend, and use wisely and sustainably the natural environment in which we live.
In your mercy: hear our prayer.
We pray for the community in which we live: We pray that we shape our words and actions so that they are community building, so that they proclaim the gospel and its values.
In your mercy: hear our prayer.
We pray for the church: We pray for the discernment of a new Archbishop; for Helen, our locum priest; for all who exercise leadership roles within the life of our Parish; and for each of us as we seek to live in the way of Christ.
In your mercy: hear our prayer.
We pray for those who are sick or in need: We pray that those who need or ask for our prayer at this time are surrounded with your healing grace and assurance of your presence. We pray for …………..
In your mercy: hear our prayer.
We remember those who have died: We give thanks for those who have been examples of living faith to us; those who have helped to shape our journey of faith. We pray for those whose year’s mind occurs at this time.
In your mercy: hear our prayer.
Almighty God, grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
