We are a Christian faith community living in the way of Christ accepting and welcoming all in loving service, growing Christ’s future on Earth.
Sentence for the Day
If you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Colossians 3:1
Collect
Living God,
Judge of us all,
you have placed in our hands
the wealth we call our own:
through your Spirit give us wisdom,
that our possessions may not be a curse,
but a means of blessing in our lives.
Grant this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen

Intercessions: prepared by Peta Tierney
Heavenly Father, draw near to us and hear our prayers.
We pray for your marvellous earth, for clean water and arable land. We pray that we may be faithful stewards of the bounty you make available for us. We pray for the just sharing of the earth’s resources for all people to live lives of dignity. We pray for those suffering through natural disasters in this country and around the world, and for all those who come out to help others in times of need. Amid the cares of our daily lives, make us attentive to your voice and alert to your presence.
Heavenly Father, draw near to us and hear our prayers.
We pray for your church and your champions. We pray for Archbishop Jeremy, Regional Bishop John, Rev Helen and Fr John, and our small group leaders. Guide them as they help us to live in faith each day. Help each of us to grow stronger in faith and to be your courageous champions through our words and actions.
Heavenly Father, draw near to us and hear our prayers.
We pray for our families, neighbourhoods and communities, for those hidden from society and for those working to help the disenfranchised. We pray for those living in pain or fear. We pray especially for. …. and for those known to us whom we name aloud or in the silence of our hearts.
Heavenly Father, draw near to us and hear our prayers.
We give thanks for all your people and your champions in every age. Help each of us prepare courageously for the account we must one day give.
Heavenly Father, draw near to us and hear our prayers and grant that that what we have asked in faith, we may by your grace receive.
Year’s Mind Anniversaries this month: Richard (Dick) Jones, Don Newman, Phillip Kahler
Pew Reflection
Today we encounter the possibility of prophetic healing, the call to moral stature, and the challenges of wealth in the spiritual life. We also catch a glimpse of divine intimacy: the infinite is the intimate, and suffers with us and bears the burden of our waywardness. In Hosea we are challenged to ask: ‘Is God apathetic or passionate?’, ‘Does God view our human joys and sorrow as an observer, from a distance, or is God the fellow sufferer who understands?’ The author of Colossians challenges us to wonder ‘what does it mean to have our lives hidden and then revealed in Christ?’ ‘How can we practice morality in the political and economic realms?’. And our Gospel asks us ‘are we too enamoured of prosperity to hear God’s summons’, ‘what is our ultimate concern – wealth, power or relationship to God?’.
Ask Around: Have you met someone you'd describe as spiritual?
What was it about them that made you think that?
NOTICES:
Brenda’s 90th – Thank-You!
Brenda thanks everyone for all they did to celebrate her birthday last Sunday, in particular for all the food and birthday cake we enjoyed in the Georgian Room. But also for all the gifts she received, among which was a beautiful woollen rug. This was made of New Zealand wool and then the label said that it had been made in Ukraine!
So, thank you everyone.
Commitment Sunday
Thank you for the commitment you expressed in your commitment cards. We are excited by the future this commitment means for the parish. If you have not yet handed in your cards, it is not too late, just place it on the weekly collection plate.
Offerings Update?
If you are giving to the Parish via Parish Direct or Direct Debit, and your offering has changed, please remember to contact Anfin or your bank to advise of the change.

Little Lukies is a church-based program, run every Monday in term time, that introduces primary school aged children to God and the church. Children are given afternoon tea when they arrive from school, followed by a game, a ‘lesson’ in the church and an activity related to the story that is taught each week. SLAngers is for high school children who meet fortnightly and are met with afternoon tea and then engage in ‘community focused’ activities and bible-based discussions
