Sentence for the Day
Those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles. Isaiah 40.31
Collect of the Day
Saving God,
whose Son, Jesus Christ, healed the sick
and brought them wholeness of body and mind:
inspire us, his disciples,
so that we may constantly proclaim his gospel
by our words
and by the dedication and integrity of our lives;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – Green
Readings: Isaiah 40.21-31; Ps 147.1-11; 1 Corinthians 9.16-23; Mark 1.29-39
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh language region, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.
A note from Helen
Our reading from Isaiah shows us the vastness of the created universe, where we are like small insects; while also revealing that the infinity of God is a source of confidence and hope for us. The God who directs the galaxies also inspires our lives. God gives us strength, wisdom and energy, and God’s energy flows through and in us, providing us with everything we need to flourish. We are known by and remembered by God, our actions shape the future; and we can be comforted knowing that we can work in partnership with the God who sustains and guides us. Much depends on our actions, but not everything. God is the beginning and the end of all things; therefore we can strive earnestly resting in the abiding care of God.
