Sentence for the Day

Jesus said, “unless a grain of wheat

falls on the ground and dies, it remains only a single grain;

but if it dies, it yields a rich harvest.” John 12:24

Collect of the Day

God of paradox,

You bring life through death,

Growth through falling,

And abundance through emptiness,

Take our broken promises, we pray,

And renew in us the everlasting

Covenant of truth, peace and love,

So that, together, we may call

All creation to dance

To the rhythm of your grace. Amen

Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – Purple

Intercessionsprepared by Jan Armstrong

Heavenly Father, at this Lenten time as we prepare to celebrate the fulfillment of your promised sacrifice of your Son for our sin, awaken us anew to the depths of your love for all of your creation. Help us to daily witness of our love for your created world.

Heavenly Father, grant that each of us may truly and humbly serve you,

That your name may be glorified in all the Earth.

Almighty God, we pray for all those in positions of authority. May the leaders of all nations look to fulfill your purpose and will. Guide those in leadership in your church, especially we pray for Archbishop Jeremy, regional Bishop John and our priest Reverend Helen, our retired clergy, Allan and John and our school chaplain Jody. May all those in leadership in our local parish, as part of the worldwide Anglican Community reflect your love and sacrifice.

Almighty God, grant that each of us may truly and humbly serve you,

That your name may be glorified in all the Earth.

Loving God, we thank you for all who care for the sick or elderly, as they minister to those in their care. We pray for workers helping people escape from situations of violence of any kind. We especially pray for those on our hearts today………..

Loving Father, grant that each of us may truly and humbly serve you,

That your name may be glorified in all the Earth.

Eternal God, we thank you for each of our loved ones who have lived their lives according to your laws and have now gone before us. You have promised to love and comfort us in our time of grief. Help us to show your love to those who grieve. Especially we remember those whose Year’s Mind occurs at this time.

Eternal God, grant that each of us may truly and humbly serve you,

That your name may be glorified in all the Earth.

Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers. Grant that what we have asked in faith, we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

A note from Helen

We are only 2 weeks away from Holy Week, and today we find questions of law, grace and mercy before us. We consider what it means to have God’s law written on our hearts; what would it feel like to have God as close to us as a heartbeat. And for most of us, there is a gap between our attitudes and behaviours and God’s vision. We see God as an external agent ready to judge our imperfections; as a force pulling us away from our self-interest; as the voice of our conscience alerting us to our ‘missteps’. And today Jeremiah promises a different kind of experience – the experience of being in tune with God’s vision of ourselves and society and having our heartbeat in synch with God’s. God initiates a new covenant with us. But, is God the only active participant here? God can do anything God chooses, and God can address us in lively and energetic ways. Yes, God’s call invites us to response, and our response emerges from a partnership between God and us that will enhance our creativity and freedom.

March Retiring Collection: ABM’s Lent and Good Friday Appeal

Unfortunately, in many parts of the world, deprivation and vulnerability are not an option, but are the continuing reality of life. We invite you to support the Anglican Board of Ministry’s Lent and Good Friday Appeal, which continues the Lenten tradition of sacrificial giving and compassion. This appeal will help fund nutritional, education and support programs in Gaza, Sri Lanka and Kenya, which aim to improve the health and livelihoods of families, especially children, and those living with a disability.
