Collect

O blessed Trinity,

in whom we know the Maker of all things,

seen and unseen,

the Saviour of all, both near and far:

by your Spirit enable us so to worship your divine majesty,

that with all the company of heaven

we may magnify your glorious name,

saying, Holy, holy, holy.

Glory to you, O Lord most high. Amen.

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh language region, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.

IntercessionsPrayers from ‘Traces of Glory’, by David Adam

The Trinity protecting me; the Father be over me, the Saviour be under me, the Spirit be within me.

The Holy Three enfolding me, ever more about me. Holy God, holy and Strong One, holy and Mighty One, You give us life, you give us love, you give us yourself; help us to give our lives, our love, ourselves to you. Amen.

We pray for pilgrims and seekers, for all new in the faith.  We long for a deeper unity and fellowship within the church.  Lord, give to your people the blessing of peace.

We pray for your creation that groans for salvation: for areas spoiled and desecrated by greed or insensitivity, for peoples misused, exploited and abused by others, for all places of deprivation or great poverty, for all who suffer from war or oppression.  Lord, give to your people the blessing of peace.

We give you thanks for all who have shared their lives with us.  We pray for our homes, our loved ones, for friends who have guided us, all who have been an example to us.  We pray for young people leaving home for the first time, for anyone who has had to leave their home because of illness, accident or violence.  Lord, give to your people the blessing of peace.

We pray for all who are disturbed: for the mentally ill, for all who have lost their grip on reality.  We remember the restless and the weary, all who are not at peace with themselves or the world.  We also pray for those who have asked for our prayers ….. and those known to us whom we name aloud or in the silence of our hearts.  Lord, be with each in their troubles and with all who care for them.  Lord, give to your people the blessing of peace.

Praise you for all who have come into the peace of your nearer presence: for the saints in glory, and for our loved ones departed.  Lord, give to your people the blessing of peace.

Year’s Mind Anniversaries this month:  Mary Newton, Kathleen Weildon, Jacqui Davis

A note from Helen

Have you ever gone somewhere ‘ordinary’ and been met by the ‘extraordinary’. Isaiah has been met by the glory of God, he has seen the world filled with God, and he is suddenly overcome by his own inadequacies and unworthiness. God then calls him to take up a very challenging role, to become a ‘voice in the wilderness’ to call out to the people and call them back to the God of their ancestors and, despite his previous thoughts of inadequacy, Isaiah responds ‘here I am, pick me’. God needs us. God needs people who will call our communities back to God – the God of social justice, economic equality, sound foreign policy, relational hospitality, and political civility. Can you also respond ‘here I am, pick me’?

May Retiring Collection: Mercy Ships

Every day, children and adults in some of the poorest communities die from causes that can easily be treated in hospitals in nations like Australia. Mercy Ships are able to deploy their state-of-the-art hospital ships to treat people. They also train and upskill local healthcare workers so that their great work continues into the future. Up to 70% of the world’s population lives near the coast, and their hospital ships are unique platforms to direct medical care and build medical capacity into these communities.
