2 Corinthians 4:6

Collect
Lord God of the nations,

you have revealed your will to all people

and promised us your saving help:

help us to hear and do what you command,

that the darkness may be overcome by the power of your light;

through Jesus Christ our Lord,

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – Green

Readings: 1 Samuel 3:1-10; Psalm 139:1-6, 13-18; 2 Corinthians 4:5-12; Mark 2:23-3:6

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh language region, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.

IntercessionsPrepared by Jan Armstrong
Creator God, we thank you for the seasons of our world as they allow for times of rest and refreshment for the Earth. We pray for all those seeking warmth during this winter season. Help us to show your love to all around us each day. May we daily take time to bask in the warmth of your love and thank you for providing for all our physical needs.
Loving Heavenly Father, hear our prayers, that we may share your love always.

Holy God, as Christians around Australia and the world gather today to sing your praises and be renewed in their faith may we support and care for one another. We pray especially for those in areas of conflict and war. May those who are living through dark times feel your comforting presence. We pray for Archbishop Jeremy, Regional Bishop John and for Reverend Helen on her journey. We thank you for the ministry of Rev John Corner and The Venerable Allan Paulsen.
Loving Heavenly Father, hear our prayers that we may share your love always.

Caring God, may we, like Samuel, say, “Speak for your servant hears you.” Remind us to daily spend time listening to you and finding comfort in your presence. Strengthen our love for you as we rejoice in the freedom freely given by the sacrifice of your Son, Jesus Christ.
Loving Heavenly Father, hear our prayers that we may share your love always.

Healing God, we pray for all who are unwell. May your healing hand be on them all as they seek your face. We thank you for all hospital staff who daily go above and beyond to care for those in need.
Loving Heavenly Father, hear our prayers that we may share your love always.

Loving God, we thank you for all those who lived their lives reflecting your love and who are now dwelling with you for eternity. We especially remember those whose Year’s mind occurs at this time.
Loving Heavenly Father, hear our prayers that we may share your love always.
Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A note from Helen
The Pharisees were not impressed by Jesus and his disciples plucking and eating grain on the Sabbath. Nor were they impressed by his curing a man with a withered hand on the same day. In response to their first objection, Jesus reminds them of the story of hungry David and his companions eating the shewbread, reserved solely in the Temple for its priests. The second story sees Jesus trying to get the Pharisees to admit that doing good on the Sabbath is not a bad thing – but rather than agreeing with him, the obvious and right thing to do, they plot to get rid of him instead.

June Retiring Collection:  Discipleship of the Good Shepherd
DGS in Africa is currently focussed on two major works. The setting up of two centres, in Tanzania and western Kenya, to translate all of the DGS material into Swahili. Swahili is spoken by about 200 million people, so translation will open the children’s work up to many more children. The other big work is setting up toddler atriums in large churches in Nairobi, Kenya as a precursor to doing similar startups in the slum areas. The funding need is for second-hand laptops to initiate translation and to do online training. Blessings John
