Collect

Almighty God,

give us such a vision of your purpose,

and such an assurance of your love and power,

that we may ever hold fast the hope which is in Jesus Christ our Lord;

who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – Green

Readings: 1 Samuel 8:4-11, 16-20; 11:14-15; Psalm 138; 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1; Mark 3:20-35

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh language region, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.

Intercessions - prepared by Anne King

In peace, let us pray to Jesus our Lord, who ever lives to make intercession for us.

Saviour of the world, be present in all places of suffering, violence and pain, and bring hope even in the darkest night. Inspire us to continue your work of reconciliation today.

Lord of life, in your mercy hear us.

Holy God, as Christians around Australia and the world gather today to worship you and be renewed in their faith, may we support and care for one another. We pray for Archbishop Jeremy, Regional Bishop John and for Reverend Helen on her holiday. We thank you for the ministry of Rev John Corner and The Venerable Allan Paulsen.

Lord of life, in your mercy hear us.

Shepherd and Guardian of our souls, guide and enable all who lead and serve this community and those on whom we depend for our daily needs.
Grant that we may seek the peace and welfare of this place.

Lord of life, in your mercy hear us.

Great Physician, stretch out your hand to bring comfort, wholeness and peace to all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit. We especially pray for …………
Fill us with compassion, that we may be channels of your healing love.

Lord of life, in your mercy hear us.

Conqueror of death, remember for good those whom we love but see no longer especially………. help us to live this day in the sure and certain hope of your eternal victory.

Lord of life, in your mercy hear us.

Let us commend ourselves, and all for whom we pray, to the mercy and protection of God.

Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Hymns

Introit………….153    God is love, let heaven adore him

Gradual……….459    In Christ there is no east or west

Offertory……...650    Brother, sister, let me serve you

Missional……..147    To God be the glory

A note from Helen
Whoever does the will of God is Christ’s brother and sister and mother. By discerning God’s will and doing whatever it is God wants us to do, we draw not just close to Jesus, but have a living relationship with him, as close as a sibling-sibling or parent-child one. What a wonderful gift we are offered.

June Retiring Collection:  Discipleship of the Good Shepherd
DGS in Africa is currently focussed on two major works. The setting up of two centres, in Tanzania and western Kenya, to translate all of the DGS material into Swahili. Swahili is spoken by about 200 million people, so translation will open the children’s work up to many more children. The other big work is setting up toddler atriums in large churches in Nairobi, Kenya as a precursor to doing similar startups in the slum areas. The funding need is for second-hand laptops to initiate translation and to do online training. Blessings John
