Sentence for the Day
Who shall stand in the Lord’s holy place? Those who have clean hands and pure hearts, who do not lift up their hands to what is false. Psalm 24:3–4

Collect
Eternal God,
open our eyes to see your hand at work
in the splendour of creation and in the beauty of human life.
Help us to cherish the gifts that surround us,
to share our blessings with our sisters and brothers,
and to experience the joy of life in your presence;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Stewardship Poem
If I see a gift as mine alone,
I might give hesitantly, even grudgingly,
after considering my options,
giving primarily from a sense of ought.
If I see the gift as God’s
who allows me to use it for a time,
then the gift can flow more freely,
as I join with others to be a channel
for God’s love and mercy.

 Intercessions Prepared by John Noble
Let us first thank God for the wonders of the world in which we live, for the heavens above and the earth beneath, and for all the creatures which share this world with us, in the air, on land and in the sea. Keep us ever mindful that we must care for and preserve all God’s gifts for those who will come after us.
Lord, in your mercy,,,,,,Hear our prayer

We thank God for the peace and prosperity in which we live here in Australia and pray for all those living in areas where there is conflict and civil strife. Particularly we remember those in Gaza, the Ukraine, the Sudan and we pray for those involved in efforts to bring peace and agreement between the opposing parties. We pray for those who provide relief and medical supplies to all those who have lost so much.
Lord, in your mercy,,,,,,Hear our prayer

We pray for Christians throughout the world, particularly in places where they face discrimination for professing their beliefs. We pray for our church leaders, Jeremy our Archbishop, John our local bishop, and our priest Helen and for all those working in voluntary organisations such as Anglicare who provide services to those in need in their homes.
Lord, in your mercy,,…Hear our prayer

We thank God for our health and strength and pray for all who, for long- or short-term medical conditions, are no longer able to continue living as they would wish. We pray for all places of healing and treatment, hospitals, clinics and for all who work there, that they may treat their patients with care and respect. We pray for all who look after the elderly, either in their homes or residential accommodation. Today we remember ..... and any others who are in need at this time.
Lord, in your mercy,,,,,,Hear our prayer

We pray for our local communities on the mountain and around Canungra, and remember all who provide the services which we take for granted, in local government, schools, shops and offices, and those who provide emergency services, the police, fire brigades and ambulances.
Lord, in your mercy,,,,,,Hear our prayer

We thank God for the lives of those whom we have known and loved, but are no longer with us, particularly ...
Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers. Grant that what we have asked in faith, we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

A note from Helen
Our readings today give us a ‘mixed bag’. David celebrates with all his might as he brings the ark of the covenant to the city of David. His praise leads to generosity, everyone is fed from God’s abundance, physically and spiritually.  Our Psalm proclaims that the earth belongs to God, and affirms some places are particularly holy and, in these spaces, the ‘pure in heart’ will experience divinity. Paul proclaims that we have every spiritual blessing, that God has provided us, personally and communally, with everything we need to flourish. But Herod’s delight leads him to murder. Herod does not have the moral fortitude to overcome the pressure of others. He is disoriented by another kind of dancing, and he ‘caves in’ when he finds himself ‘backed into a corner’. His passion destroys rather than creates. Our readings invite us to life-changing dancing praise, taking us beyond self-interest to place ourselves before God, embracing God’s interests.

Untold Histories: Saturday July 20
Aunty Sanda King, a Yagara, Quandamooka, and Bundjalung Elder, will be at St George’s Tamborine Mountain to present ‘Untold Histories’, an insight into First Nation People’s history that many of us may not have heard or discussed, without bias, at school. It intertwines Australia’s history, in particular the impacts of past policies and legislation with Sandra’s own life and the life of her community. It will be an opportunity to broaden our knowledge and awareness of Australia’s Untold History. All are welcome, bring your friends, your families, bring anyone you can think of, on July 20, 10am-1pm.
