We are a Christian faith community living in the way of Christ accepting and welcoming all in loving service, growing Christ’s future on Earth.
Sentence for the Day
As he went ashore, Jesus saw a great crowd; and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.
Mark 6:34
Collect
Eternal God, author of our life and end of our pilgrimage:
guide us by your word and Spirit amid all perils and temptations, that we may not wander from your way, but may run our course in safety
until we come to our eternal rest in you; through the grace of Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Stewardship Poem
If I see a gift as mine alone,
I might give hesitantly,
even grudgingly,
after considering my options,
giving primarily from a
sense of ought.
If I see the gift as God’s
who allows me to use it for
a time, then the gift can
flow more freely, as I join
with others to be a channel
for God’s love and mercy.

Intercessions – Prepared by Anne King
As we celebrate the Eucharist, help us to recognise Jesus in the breaking of bread, who blesses our way of life and leads us to eternal gladness.
We pray to the Lord. Lord, Hear our Prayer
We pray for world leaders: may they develop policies which care for the poor, feed the hungry, and have compassion on those in need, especially victims of war.
We pray to the Lord. Lord, Hear our Prayer
We pray for those in authority. Guide those in leadership in your church. Especially we pray for guidance for Archbishop Jeremy, regional bishop John and Reverend Helen. May all those in leadership in our local parish, as part of the world wide Anglican Community reflect your love and sacrifice.
We pray to the Lord. Lord, Hear our Prayer
We pray for the earth, confessing the relentless demands we place on its resources. May all earth’s peoples be urgently gripped – by a care and concern for sustainable living, that we might heed creation’s groans, and let the earth find some rest.
We pray to the Lord. Lord, Hear our Prayer.
We pray for ourselves and for those we know who are in need, for those who are ill in body, mind or spirit, that peace, health and wholeness would be experienced wherever possible. In a moment’s silence, we bring our concerns to God and especially pray for……
We pray to the Lord. Lord, Hear our Prayer
We pray for our parish: that we may go forth in mission from the Eucharist to bring Christ’s love to our families, neighbours and workplaces. We pray for our Parish Council meeting today that you will guide the Councillors to make the best decisions for our parish. Let us embrace the challenges with courage and the blessings with gratitude.
We pray to the Lord. Lord, Hear our Prayer.
Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers. Grant that what we have asked in faith, we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

A note from Helen
God’s House is a term often used for our churches or chapels, and it is a fitting description for those places. But ‘God’s House’ is not restricted to those places. In our reading from Samuel, we learn that David wanted to build a house for God, but God said, ‘No’. Or rather God said, not yet, because David was not the one to build it, his son would build the Jerusalem Temple. This reading asks the question ‘Can God choose to be more fully present in some places than others?’ The Celts describe ‘thin places’ – holy places where heaven and earth meet. Places where God ‘meets’ us ‘where we are’, and that is not necessarily just in church. Samuel sees these ‘thin places’ as covenantal places, where God’s special relationship with us is revealed. And the covenant with David and his descendants is described in our Psalm. Despite their waywardness, God will not forsake David’s children, God is faithful even when we are unfaithful. There will be consequences for our unfaithfulness but God will remain faithful.
