We are a Christian faith community living in the way of Christ accepting and welcoming all in loving service; growing Christ’s future on Earth.
Sentence for the Day
‘The water that I will give,’ says the Lord, ‘will become in you a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’
John 4.14
Collect
O God, the fountain of life,
to a humanity parched with thirst
you offer the living water that springs from the Rock,
our Saviour Jesus Christ:
stir up within your people the gift of your Spirit,
that we may profess our faith with freshness
and announce with joy the wonder of your love.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – Violet
Readings: Exodus 17.1-7; Ps 95; Romans 5.1-11; John 4.5-42
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh Nation, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.
A note from Helen
Water is a powerful symbol in today’s readings. We ‘thirst’ for many things in our lives, and it is not always for water. But without water, we cannot survive for long. The people of Israel are desperate for life giving water to survive another day in their desert journey. And Moses strikes the rock and gives them water. The Samaritan woman comes alone to draw water for herself and those in her household. And while at the well, Jesus asks her for water. Is he thirsty? Or is he just using the request for water as a way engaging with her to show that he ‘sees’ her. She is alone, she has come in the middle of the day. All these things reveal her isolation and rejection by her community. The ‘living’ water Jesus offers her gives her more than just a solution to thirst, it gives her a way out of isolation and rejection and into being welcomed again by her community. Jesus ‘gives her back’ to her community. He offers her welcome and acceptance and liberation without judgement. She has drunk of the living water of true intimacy with the messiah, and she knows herself welcomed.

This week’s intercessions: Prepared by Sonya
Loving God, you created us and gave us imaginations as well as free will, hear the prayers that we offer to you today, listen to our thanksgiving for the love you show us and help us with those things that bring worry and concern.
Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer.
Holy God, give us eyes to recognise, as Jesus did at Jacob’s Well, the true spiritual thirst in the people around us. Help us all to respond to those spiritual needs through our worship, our outreach and our social activities.
Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer.
Creator God, your son Jesus crossed territorial boundaries and ignored social taboos throughout his ministry. Give us the courage to make a stand in situations where women in particular have suffered because what should be uncovered is covered up, where they have been humiliated and downtrodden and dare not tell and where they have been physically mistreated, and cannot tell.
Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer.
Heavenly Father and Lord of life, we pray for the gift of courage to cope with illness and injury of any kind. We pray for it for ourselves, and for those who we name before you ……. We prayer for all who care for those who are suffering or struggling, that they have the strength to carry this responsibility and to ask for help when needed.
Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer.
Merciful God, we thank you for all your servants whose lives have honoured Christ. You gave them breath and loved them through their journey of life. Encourage us by their example and may they rest in everlasting peace.
Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer.
Everlasting God, in so many ways you have taught us that you alone can be trusted, even when it might seem that you are far away from us. Help us to remember this fact and feel your loving presence as we go from this time of worship and return to our everyday lives, walking obediently in the light of your truth in all that we do this and every day.
Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers. Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

March Retiring Collection: ABM’s Lenten Appeal
Your gift this Lent and Good Friday will help support vulnerable women, youth and children in the Diocese of Jerusalem. It will empower many vulnerable women in Gaza and improve the nutrition of their children, via the courageous work of the Ahli Hospital. It will also help to ensure that young Anglican Palestinians learn more about their Christian heritage, including visiting ancient Christian sites such as the synagogue church where Jesus read the scroll of Isaiah. These young people will also be provided with the skills needed to lead their communities and churches into the future.
