Collect of the Day

Bountiful God,

we thank you for planting in us the seed of your word:

by your Holy Spirit,

help us to receive it with joy, and to live according to it,

that we may grow in faith and hope and love;

through Jesus Christ our Lord,

who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh Nation, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.

A note from Helen

“Let anyone with ears listen”.  ‘Listening’ is always a ‘present tense’ activity. When we hear God’s Word, it is not a ‘one-time’ occurrence, but the ongoing characteristic of discipleship. So what do you hear in this parable of the sower.  ‘How’ and ‘when’ have you experienced these responses to listening to God’s Word.  Where do you see yourself in this parable.  Our response to what we hear is just as important as what we hear.  What God’s Word does is just as important as what it says.  When have you felt that you have heard God’s Word, but it makes no sense at all.  When have thought you heard God speaking, but you question ‘what you know’ and ‘what you have learned’ because it leaves you doubting what God’s word can do.  Sometimes we feel that no matter how hard we try to listen and abide in God’s Word, there are too many other things around us that make more sense.  But it is in those grace-filled moments when everything is going along ‘swimmingly’; when what I have heard from and about God, affirms the fruit I bear.  It is not about how much fruit we produce; it is about the way God’s Word takes hold in us.  It is about what the hearing creates in each of us.

‘Plastic free’ bin liners.

Angligreen is encouraging us to be ‘plastic free’ in July, so do you want to learn how to make paper liners for your kitchen waste bins which will help eliminate plastic from your rubbish bins.  Watch this space and we will tell you when we can all learn this important skill.

Wally Wombat Club

Wally Wombat club recommences this Wednesday at 9.30am. At this stage there is only one person with a Blue Card rostered for one morning a month. Wally is not eligible for a Blue card. All one has to do is come and sit around and chat with young Mums and maybe make tea if they would like it. Wally and I do the work with the little children. It is actually a delightful time of little one’s having an enjoyable time. Please support us. Blessings John

Intercessions – Selected from Clouds and Glory – David Adam

Lord of the harvest, make us fruitful in good works.  Help us to share in your salvation, and enjoy bringing in your harvest; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

We pray for all evangelists, preachers and pastors.  W pray for those who teach in Sunday schools and Bible groups.  We remember all who go out to seek and save the lost.  We are sorry for times when we stray away from you, when we are tempted to lose hope.  God, you are our salvation.

You are the hope of us all.

We pray for all who have unrewarding work to do, for all whose cries fall on stony ground, for all who labour but whose fulfilment is frustrated, for all who are choked by the cares and the riches of the world.  We remember all who have lost hope of growing or achieving anything.  God, you are our salvation.

You are the hope of us all.

Help us to bring forth the fruits of your Spirit in our homes.  May our homes be places where love, joy, and peace abound.  May we nurture the young in the ways of truth and goodness.  We pray for the homeless, for those who look in hope to have a home of their own.  God, you are our salvation.

You are the hope of us all.

Lord, have mercy on all who have lost hope or vision.  Protect all who are not at peace in themselves or at peace with those around them.  We pray for all who are in sickness or adversity, for all who are tempted to give up, for all who are suffering from a breakdown, or unable to cope on their own.  We pray for friends and loved ones in sickness, especially ……….. and those known to us whom we name aloud or in the silence of our hearts. God, you are our salvation.

You are the hope of us all.

We give thanks that as you raised Christ from the dead you will give life to our mortal bodies.  We pray for all who are renewed and refreshed in your eternal kingdom, remembering especially Ted Karamisheff whose funeral will be held next week, and we pray that one day we may share with them in that glory.  God, you are our salvation.

You are the hope of us all.

Prayer for a new Archbishop – Rev’d Helen

Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers. Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
