Sentence for the Day
‘Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest,’ says the Lord. ‘Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart.’ Matthew 11.28–29
Collect of the Day
Almighty God,
your Son Jesus Christ has taught us
that what we do for the least of his brothers and sisters
we do also for him:
give us the will to serve others
as he was the servant of all,
who gave up his life and died for us;
yet lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – Green
Readings:
Genesis 24.34-38,42-49,58-67; Psalm 45.10-17; Romans 7.14-25;
Matthew 11.15-19, 25-30
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh Nation, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.
A note from Helen
Successful failure. A contradiction in terms or a reality in all our lives. I remember hearing once that ‘we only learn by failing’. Unless we fail, we will learn nothing, because we have nothing to learn. Paul tells us he constantly fails. The things he wants to do he fails to do, and the things he wants to avoid he constantly finds himself doing. And that, I think, pretty much sums up most of my life too. I don’t want to do the wrong thing, but I find myself constantly doing it; I want to live a good (dare I say perfect) life but find myself always falling short in that aim. So does not mean I am a failure? No, it just means I am human. We do not ‘climb a spiritual ladder’ where we keep improving until become so spiritual that we have no need for God. We die and are made new, we are simultaneously sinner and saint, 100 percent of both, all the time.

Wally Wombat Club
Wally Wombat club recommences this Wednesday at 9.30am. At this stage there is only one person with a Blue Card rostered for one morning a month. Wally is not eligible for a Blue card. All one has to do is come and sit around and chat with young Mums and maybe make tea if they would like it. Wally and I do the work with the little children.
