We are a Christian faith community living in the way of Christ accepting and welcoming all in loving service; growing Christ’s future on Earth.
Sentence for the Day
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
1 Peter 1.3
Collect
Almighty and eternal God,
the strength of those who believe
and the hope of those who doubt:
may we, who have not seen, have faith
and receive the fullness of Christ’s blessing;
who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – White
Readings: Acts 2.14a, 22-32; Psalm 16; 1 Peter 1.1-12; John 20.19-31
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh Nation, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.
A note from Helen
Doubting Thomas. It is a label we give to people who are judged as not believing the obvious, or those who simply don’t believe that what you tell them is true or what you perceive as being ‘obvious’. But is that a fair assessment of them. When we look at the Thomas of our Scripture, did he disbelieve the disciples’ story of seeing the risen Christ or was he just saying that ‘he too’ wanted to ‘see’ the Christ. He wanted to personally witness the risen Christ rather than have a ‘second hand’ encounter. And how often do we want ‘personal’ encounters with God? Sometimes we struggle to ‘believe’ that God is there when life is not being kind to us, sometimes we find it hard to ‘keep the faith’ because God is not doing what we ‘want’. But sometimes we have to accept that ‘woundedness’ is not a sign that God is not with us, Jesus showed his disciples his ‘woundedness’ when he met them in the locked room. God is with us, ‘wounds and all’.

Mission Action Planning will be taking place in the next couple of weeks, St Luke’s (22 April) and St George’s (20 May). This planning session will take on a ‘new form’ in that I will be using ‘World Café’ and ‘Open Space Technology’ where all the agenda items are set by you, the plans and future directions are yours, and then those plans/hopes/dreams will be taken to parish council for confirmation and approval. This is your parish; these are your plans. If you are unable to attend, you can still give us your thoughts, just by responding to the invitation which will be sent out in the 2 weeks prior to the meetings. That means, Canungra invitation is in the pew sheet this week.

This week’ Intercessions: prepared by Barbara
God of the universe, Lord of all, Your son Jesus rose from the dead giving hope of eternal life and joy if we believe. We are weak, fallible and egocentric and the beautiful world you gave us to live in is being spoiled by us. We need the energy of your Grace to restore what we have damaged.
Jesus said "Peace be with you"
Lord we believe in you. Your Holy Spirit is within us.
Loving God of all, we believe in you, help those who find it hard. They have heard of you but are unable to recognise your Holy Spirit within, which you have given them.
We pray for all priests and spiritual leaders, for Cameron, our Bishop Administrator, ,regional Bishop John, our locum priest Helen and for Rev'd John Corner and his ministry to children and The Venerable Archdeacon Allan Paulsen. Help us to support our Parish Council to make wise decisions. We pray they will call on you for courage and endurance. Show us how to spread the gospel message in our planning sessions to fill our church.
Jesus said "Peace be with you"
Lord we believe in you. Your Holy Spirit is within us.
Loving God of all, our indigenous people need a Voice. We pray our leaders will give them one and their voices heard. Relieve their suffering and help them feel included in the best possible way. (Pause)
We bring to you the sick, abused, homeless and pray for any in need, courage to carry on and live a meaningful life. Today we especially pray for...and those who care for them.
Jesus said "Peace be with you" Lord we believe in you. Your Holy Spirit is within us.
Loving God of all, it's good to remember those who have guided us in our lives. We give thanks for them and for your gentle presence in good times and difficult ones. We say with the psalmist "You have made known to me the paths of life, You fill me with joy in your presence".
Loving God of all, You have promised to hear our prayer. Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
