This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Luke 24.34; Psalm 118.24
Collect
Glorious Lord of life,
by the mighty resurrection of your Son
you overcame the old order of sin and death
to make all things new in him:
grant that we,
who celebrate with joy Christ’s rising from the dead
may be raised from the death of sin
to the life of righteousness;
through him who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – White
Readings:
Acts 10.34-43; Hymn to the Risen Christ; Colossians 3.1-4; Matthew 28.1-10
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh Nation, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.
A note from Helen
“Let him easter in us, be a dayspring to the dimness of us,
be a crimson-cresseted east…”
Gerard Manly-Hopkins, “The Wreck of the Deutschland”
Gerard Manly-Hopkins, in this poem, uses “Easter” as a verb, “Let him Easter in us.” It is a prayer that God may be a kind of daybreak in our darkened lives; that God may be a “crimson-cresseted east,” a brazier that burns crimson-hot amidst our cold. “Easter” as a verb is a wonderful way of thinking about resurrection: a truth that must be lived as much as it is believed. We have all ‘journeyed’ to this celebration of the mysteries of the resurrection, may Christ continue to “Easter in you”, that you will know resurrection life in all its fulness.
NOTICES…
Mission Action Planning will be taking place in the next couple of weeks, St Luke’s (22 April) and St George’s (20 May). This planning session will take on a ‘new form’ in that I will be using ‘World Café’ and ‘Open Space Technology’ where all the agenda items are set by you, the plans and future directions are yours, and then those plans/hopes/dreams will be taken to parish council for confirmation and approval. This is your parish; these are your plans. If you are unable to attend, you can still give us your thoughts, just by responding to the invitation which will be sent out in the 2 weeks prior to the meetings. That means, Canungra invitation is in the pew sheet this week.
Bishop John’s ‘Walk the Walk’ Bishop John had a great visit with us and he was pleased to meet those who joined us for the Chrism Eucharist, and for Morning Prayer on Wednesday, and he thanks you for your welcome and hospitality. When I dropped him off down the mountain, he was joined in his walking by a member of the Jimboomba congregation, and I have seen photos of his walk from Algester to Sunnybank where he walked with members of both parishes.
Candidates for Confirmation
Please pray for Cy and Sophia who are preparing for Confirmation.

Alleluia to our God, praise and thanksgiving for life and life eternal.
Alleluia to our Lord Jesus Christ, conqueror of death and hell.
Alleluia to Christ, the gateway to life everlasting.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we praise you for your life-giving and life-renewing powers, this glorious day and evermore.
Blessed are you, Lord God our Father, by whose power our Lord Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. We rejoice and celebrate that he who was dead is alive, that he who was buried is risen. Death is conquered, we are free, Christ has won the victory. Lord, make us aware of the presence of the Risen Christ in our lives. Let the church proclaim the good news, ‘He is risen!’ In the power of the risen Lord, let us lead people out of darkness into light.
Christ Jesus, risen in glory....scatter the darkness from our hearts and from your world.
Lord Jesus, as we rejoice this day, we remember your words to the disciples, ‘Peace be unto you’. We pray for peace in our world, that we may rise above all that would cause strife and conflict, that your victory over the powers of evil may be allowed to work in your world.
Christ Jesus, risen in glory....scatter the darkness from our hearts and from your world.
Risen Lord, as you appeared to Mary in the garden, to the disciples in the Upper Room, to the travellers on the road to Emmaus, be known among us. Christ be in our homes, in our work and in our journeying. Risen Lord, let us walk in your presence and peace.
Christ Jesus, risen in glory....scatter the darkness from our hearts and from your world.
We remember before you all who walk in darkenss and fear, all who are weighed down, all who are heavily laden. We pray for all who have lost hope, for all who are approaching death, for those caring for the terminally ill, for those in hospice care. We remember especially today ……. and those known to us whom we name aloud, or in the silence of our hearts …..
Christ Jesus, risen in glory....scatter the darkness from our hearts and from your world.
We rejoice in the glory of our Risen Lord and of all your saints who have shared in your triumph over the grave and death. We pray today for our loved ones departed, ….., that they may rejoice in the glory of your presence.
Christ Jesus, risen in glory....scatter the darkness from our hearts and from your world.
Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers, Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
