Fr Peter writes:
As we celebrate the second Sunday after Epiphany, we are reminded that Jesus revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him. (John 2.11)
The Prophet Isaiah reminded God’s people of old (Isaiah 62.1-5) that the Lord will take delight in you, and the bond with them and the land will be like a marriage bond. Your God will rejoice over you.
Paul writing to the church in Corinth (1 Corinthians 12.1-11) speaks about the gifts of the Spirit reminding that there are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. To each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and the Spirit distributes them to each one, just as it determines.
The gospel set for today is a record of Jesus’ first miracle at a wedding at Cana in Galilee.
God provides all we need to witness to God in our midst, but we need to discover our gifts and use them for the common good to build up the body of Christ.
Yours in the household of God. Peter+
Labyrinth Message
This week's labyrinth message for you to "walk with" is : Have you ever been surprised when circumstances that you think amount to a "disaster" end up becoming an unexpected blessing ?
In this week's Gospel, Jesus' "behind the scenes" water into wine miracle stuns everyone [ except perhaps Mary ?] What a metaphor of Grace ...as the focus moves from "following the rules" to simply enjoying a Divine relationship of abundant agape love … as the gallons and gallons of water used to make folks "clean" under the law are transformed into a "top drop" to celebrate [and party !] I wonder what "miracles", surprises [ or, perhaps even an unexpected change of attitude ] God will unveil in your life this week ?
URGENT Storage Space Needed
The parish urgently needs storage space for household furniture items that have been donated for rectory in preparation for Fr Tom’s arrival. See Delma.
Reports for AGM#2
Reports for the AGM#2 are requested to be forwarded to the parish office by Tuesday 1st February so they can be distributed on Sunday 6th February, one week prior to the meeting.
Prayers of the people Prepared by Keith
Loving God, in the face of the pandemic we continue to give you thanks for the amazing beauty of your created world, and for all who care for and delight in it.
We pray for the people of the world as we continue to grapple with the effects of the pandemic: for those in leadership roles faced with the unenviable task of making decisions; for those who are experiencing the effects of the virus; and all who care for them.
Generous God, in your mercy: hear our prayer.
Loving God, we give you thanks that you welcome all to your feast, spreading before us your gifts of bread and wine. We pray for all who eat at your table:
for your church in this and other lands, praying for Philip, our Archbishop, and John our Regional Bishop;
for all who worship and minister in this Parish, praying for Peter, our locum priest, and for Tom, our incoming priest, and his family;
for all as we exercise the gifts of the Spirit in this parish.
Generous God, in your mercy: hear our prayer.
Loving God, we pray for Canungra and Tamborine communities in which we live and for those communities in which we work. We pray for those who are feeling a sense of isolation and/or depression at this time. May we who feast at your table bring the wine of reconciliation and love to those around us.
Generous God, in your mercy: hear our prayer.
Loving God, we give you thanks that you are infinite in compassion and tenderness, sharing the sorrows and pain of your children. We pray for those who are in need at this time, in sickness, in bereavement, in confusion. We pray for …………… Surround them with your grace and healing.
Generous God, in your mercy: hear our prayer.
Loving God, we give you thanks that in death, as in life, you welcome home your sons and daughters. We pray for those who have died,….., for all who have faithfully responded to your love and call. May we, with all who have feasted at your earthly table, share with you in the heavenly banquet.
Generous God, in your mercy: hear our prayer.
Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers, Grant that what we have asked in faith, we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Meditation - a weekly thought
God gave us His Holy Spirit. Deep within we seek him in the silence. Then we can go about our day considering the wonder of nature around us and the holiness of the everyday in our thoughts and actions. God with us.

School Chaplaincy Mount Tamborine and Canungra
On behalf of chaplaincy, thank you for your ongoing support.
I request your prayers for school chaplaincy on the Mountain and at Canungra. The current situation is that two of the four schools have decided to no longer use the government grant funds to support chaplaincy and new chaplains are needed for the two other schools, St Bernard's and Canungra. We do pray that it may be possible to provide some chaplaincy input to the other two schools.
Also because of COVID the chaplaincy committee has been very much depleted.
If you would like to meet fortnightly for a couple of hours of prayer for a while, then monthly, in an ongoing way please see me. I will also be asking for this support from other churches. Rev John LCC(Local Chaplaincy Committee) Chair
