Sentence for the Day
Thus says the Lord, ‘Maintain justice, and do what is right, for soon my salvation will come, and my deliverance be revealed.’
Isaiah 56.1
Collect of the Day
God of freedom,
you have broken the tyranny of sin
and sent the Spirit of your Son into our hearts:
give us grace to dedicate our freedom to your service,
that all people may know the glorious liberty of the children of God;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – Green
Readings:
Genesis 45.1-15; Psalm 133; Romans 11.13-32; Matthew 15.21-28
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh language region, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.
A note from Helen
Most of us would probably agree we have done things we would like to forget. And we probably have done things we would like others to forget too. Sometimes that forgetting is permanent, sometimes those things ‘come back to bite us’, but one lesson our Genesis reading today can teach us is that no matter how much we forget, God will never forget us. God did not forget Joseph who was sold into slavery. God did not forget Jacob, father of 12 future nations, who cheated his brother out of his inheritance. When it appears, there is nothing left to sustain or support us, God is with us. God works through all the obstacles, challenges, circumstances, and missteps in our lives. So maybe we could see the obstacles as opportunities to think differently. Maybe the challenges in our lives could be seen as a chance to build moral or physical muscle to support us. Maybe reflecting on our missteps will allow us to make better choices in the future.

Free Trees for Rectory
It’s that time of year – your SRRC rates recently arrived in the mail, along with two free tree vouchers. As we are now attempting to enhance the rectory privacy with a living green screen, a donation of one or both of your free trees to this project would be welcome. We are looking for something evergreen and bushy that will grow to 2-3m in height.

Intercessions – prepared by Peta
Almighty God, your son Jesus Christ promised that you will hear us when we ask in faith; receive our prayers.
We give thanks for the beauty and abundance of the earth. Give us and all peoples grace to live in harmony with your creation, and wisdom and generosity in our use of its bounty.
God of grace, hear our prayer.
We pray for peace and shared prosperity in our world. Help leaders of all nations put aside selfish ambition and seek to be the instruments of your will for humanity, so that all people can live free from despair, poverty and exclusion. We pray for those around us in need, especially for ..... and for those known to us whom we name aloud or in the silence of our hearts….
God of grace, hear our prayer.
We give thanks for your church and your faithful people throughout the world; strengthen us for your work in the world. We pray for Helen, Bp John and our retired clergy as they minister among us, and the Bush Brotherhood. Bless those who lead us in Bible studies and in Christian meditation and bless the leaders of our children's ministries. We pray for the discernment of our new archbishop…(Helen).
God of grace, hear our prayer.
We give thanks for the faithful departed, all those who have gone before, and who are now with you. We remember your saints in every age and all those whose anniversary falls at this time.
God of grace, hear our prayer.
(Prayer for a new Archbishop – Rev’d Helen.)
Almighty God, we come before you in the assembly of the faithful. You have promised to hear our prayers; grant that what we have asked in faith, we may by your grace receive.
