The Second Sunday of Easter
Sentence for the Day
Jesus said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here and see my hands.
Reach out your hand and put it in my side.
Do not doubt but believe.’
John 20.27
Collect
Living God,
for whom no door is closed,
no heart is locked:
draw us beyond our doubts,
till we see your Christ
and touch his wounds where they bleed in others.
This we ask through Christ our Saviour,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – White
Readings: Romans 1.11-13; Ps 118.14-29; Revelation 1.4-8; John 20.19-31
We acknowledge and pay respect to the people of the Yugambeh Language Group,
the traditional custodians of this land on which we gather.
A note from Tom:
Well that was a long journey!
It took 30 hours to travel from our old house to our new one last week and the journey getting there took a lot longer. I was offered the position of parish priest back in September and first spoke with Bishop John about the possibility of moving to the diocese about a year ago.
The wait for a visa was a long one!
I'm very aware that you have been waiting even longer and your journey towards a new parish priest has required a lot of patience.
I am so happy that the wait is finally over for all of us and so excited about the journey ahead.
I'm really looking forward to us getting to know each other. I won't give you a biography right here because you'll hear all about me over the coming weeks and anyway it's not about me, I'm just here to point to Jesus and I'm so excited to see where He leads us as we journey through life and faith together.

Labyrinth Message
This week's labyrinth message for you to "walk with" is : I wonder how you react to surprising but welcome news? I often think "I'll believe that when I see it …"
In this week's Gospel, we are reminded of Thomas' confrontation with Jesus and the truth of His resurrection. Do you sometimes think poor old Thomas may have got a bit of "a bad rap" ?…Perhaps sometimes we do need to "test the veracity" of the unexpected? How wonderful that Jesus met Thomas "where he was" and provided the reassurance he needed. May we recognise and act upon the unexpected, fresh resurrection possibilities that Jesus opens up in our lives this week .
April Retiring Collection: Discipleship of the Good Shepherd Africa
Another area where support is needed is in the Kakuma refugee settlement which is in the far northwest corner of Kenya. About a year ago DGS Africa did training there and 15 atriums for small children were opened at both South Sudanese and Nuba Mountain churches. It would be timely now to follow up with level 2 training. Transport is by road, very bumpy, hot, and dry. It’s quite like the middle of Australia. The main cost is making 15 sets of materials and boxes and taking them out as flat packs. The kids badly need Christ’s love and peace in their hearts to overcome trauma.
Prayers of the people Prepared by David
Living God, we thank you, for the Doctors, Nurses and Emergency service workers, both volunteers and professionals, who risk their own safety to help fight and control major health outbreaks. Bless and protect them as they serve us. Give them skill and care so they may continue to work through fatigue, fear and danger.
Refresh us Lord in our faith, so nothing can separate us.
Living God, we come before you, today in reverence. We are filled with humility in the face of your greatness and acknowledge our sinfulness in the face of your holy presence. We pray your Holy Spirit be with us, so, we may do your will in every thought and action.
Refresh us Lord in our faith, so nothing can separate us.
Living God, we promise, with your help, to be fearless in the world; for if you are with us, who can be against us. Let us not hesitate to call upon you, as your power and love will see us through anything this world can bring.
Refresh us Lord in our faith, so nothing can separate us.
Living God, let us not forget you, as we go forth into the world this day, lord; may our every word, be a prayer and our every act be testimony to your love and truth.
Refresh us Lord in our faith, so nothing can separate us.
Living God, who bestowed on us the grace of Baptism and the Seal of the Holy Spirit; instilled in us the desire to seek, the one true God, you said, 'Whatsoever you ask in prayer believing, you shall receive and 'Whatsoever you ask in my name, that will I do.'
Enable us to always, speak and act with humility, patience, love, gentleness, peace, courage, and wisdom:
Refresh us Lord in our faith, so nothing can separate us.
Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers, Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
