and those who lose their life for Jesus’ sake will find it.
Matthew 10.39
Collect of the Day
Gracious God,
we who were baptised into Christ Jesus
were baptised into his death:
we pray that, as you raised him from death,
so by the power of the Holy Spirit we may live the new life to your glory,
knowing ourselves to be dead in sin
but alive for you in Jesus Christ;
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – Green
Readings:
Jeremiah 20.7-13; Psalm 69.7-10,16-19; Romans 6.1-11; Matthew 10.24-39
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh Nation, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.
A note from Helen
What do you fear? Jesus tells us not to fear, even the hairs on our heads are counted. When fear gets the better of us, most of us turn to our faith to find peace. But today, Jesus tells us he came not to bring peace, but a sword. How does that sit with you? Our faith should disturb us, our faith should cause us to be provoked, disturbed, surprised, and challenged. Discipleship comes with a high cost, personally and socially. Jesus’ words are a reminder that the peace he offers is not the fake peace of denial, or dishonesty; it is a holistic, truth-telling, disinfecting peace. A peace that is deep and life-changing and does not hesitate to break in order to mend, and cut in order to heal. Are you ready for Jesus to disturb you, to unmake you, to divide you? What would it be like to experience the peace that costs, or breaks, or saves. Jesus will “guide our feet into the way of peace”. He will. But only if we let him.
NOTICES
Commitment Sunday
Thank you to all who completed and offered your Commitment Card last Sunday. If you missed the opportunity, don’t worry, you can still submit it by placing it in the regular Collection Plate. Spare Cards are available at Church.
For those who are contributing via Anfin or by direct debit from your bank account: If the amount is different from your previous giving you need to notify Anfin or your bank of the changes.
Any queries? Please speak to Keith Slater.
Carpark Safety
Following concerns raised to parish leaders, Parish Council resolved to request parking in the church grounds to be by only those with mobility restrictions. If you would like to discuss this, please speak to Rev’d Helen
Wally Wombat Club
Wally needs some help on Wednesdays from 9.15 to about 11am. The diocesan requirements are that there needs to be two adults present both with Blue Cards. It is super easy to obtain a Blue Card and it is free for volunteers. The time spent with Wally and the little ones is very enjoyable. Maybe you could roster for a couple of times a month. Wally is out and about inviting little children and it is really a wonderful life changing blessing if little ones have Good Shepherd time. Wal will be at church with a sign up sheet on Sundays.
Hymns

Intercessions – prepared by John N
This is the day that the Lord has made...Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
We thank God for the wonders of his creation in which we live, for the heavens above and the earth beneath, and for all the forms of life with which we share this world. Help us to preserve all its beauties and resources for those who will follow us.
Lord, in your mercy... Hear our prayer.
We thank God for the peace and prosperity in which we live here in Australia and pray for all those parts of the world where there is conflict and civil strife, particularly in Ukraine and Sudan. We pray for all those who have lost loved ones, their homes and possessions and who have been forced to seek refuge in other countries, and we pray for those who bring aid and relief to those who are suffering.
Lord, in your mercy... Hear our prayer.
We pray for Christians throughout the world, particularly those who face discrimination or persecution because of their beliefs and for church leaders as they seek ways to promote the Gospel in our increasingly secular world. We pray for our Bishop Administrator, Cameron, our regional Bishop John, for our priest Helen and our two representatives Peta and Kristy as they attend the Diocesan Synod in Brisbane this weekend.
Lord, in your mercy... Hear our prayer.
We thank God for our health and strength, and pray for all those who are suffering and unable to lead the lives with which they are familiar, particularly today we remember..... and any others we may know. We pray for all places of healing and treatment, for doctors nurses and other medical staff, and for all who are obliged to wait long times for diagnosis and procedures.
Lord, in your mercy... Hear our prayer.
We thank God for all in our local community who provide us with our daily needs, the emergency workers and those who work in schools, shops and offices whom we meet every day.
Lord, in your mercy... Hear our prayer
We thank God for the lives of all those who have influenced our lives but are no longer with us,
Let us say this grace together.
Go before us, O Lord, in all our doings with your most gracious favour and assist us with your continual help, that in all works, begun, continued and ended in you, we may glorify your holy name and finally by your mercy obtain everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers, Grant that what we have asked in faith, we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
June Retiring Collection: Discipleship of the Good Shepherd
DGS Africa is now extending into the Christian nurture of toddlers and babies and the unborn child, realising that the newly created human life comes from God and has a deep hunger to be close to Jesus. There is work happening in this early life nurture in churches in very poor areas. As well DGS now likes to start new plants with toddlers formation and is looking for support for initial set up in an Anglican Diocese in Cameroon, West Africa.
