TIME CHANGE
This weekend I will not be leading the three services in our shared parish because I will be in Brisbane attending Diocesan Synod - A weekend where representatives from all parishes in the diocese come together to support each other.
Supporting each other is a massive part of Church because Church is not an individual activity, it’s a team one.
That being the case, I am really grateful that Allan Paulsen has stepped up to lead this Sunday’s 8am service at St Luke’s and that John Corner will be leading the 9.30am and 4pm services at St. George’s.
As Christians we are called to step up and support other individuals, but churches are also called to support other churches. That’s how dioceses operate and how a shared parish like ours also has to operate.
With that in mind our church council unanimously voted in favour of a proposal I put to them at Sunday’s council meeting:
In my opinion the 8am and 9.30am services are too close together for a priest to effectively minister at both. In order to get to St George’s for the 9.30 service you actually have to walk out of St Luke’s during the final hymn. That is far from ideal! An important part of the priestly role is being present for the congregation and available to pray after services. The council agreed and voted in favour of changing the St George’s morning service start-time to 10am. This will begin on Sunday July 10th.
I appreciate this may be inconvenient to some and I apologise for that, but I feel it is a necessary change and a change in which the St George’s congregation is actively supporting their sister congregation and supporting priestly ministry in this parish.

This week’s intercessions: Prepared by Anne
Holy God, thank You for giving us Your Son to bring us into relationship with You. Thank You for giving us the Scriptures so that we can know You better, and thank You for giving us Your Spirit to guide us into the truth of what we need to know about You and Your great love.
Loving God, we look to you….receive our prayer
Faithful God, we pray for Tom our priest and his family, for our churchwardens Delma and Peta and for all on Parish Council. Support them as they lead, teach & guide us. We also prayer for our Commitment Sunday next Sunday. Help us to always use Your gifts wisely and teach us to share them generously. Send the Holy Spirit to work through us.
Loving God, we look to you…. receive our prayer.
Creator God, as we pray for our World we pray for our Queen in her Jubilee year and all the Royal Family. We pray for everyone in Government and Authority, Internationally, Nationally and Locally. Grant them wisdom so that their judgements may always selflessly benefit those that they represent.
Loving God, we look to you…. receive our prayer.
Father God, thank You for welcoming us into Your circle of love. May we share Your love with someone in our community today and every day. Thank you for those who include us in their circle, and thank you for their friendship, which brings so much joy to our lives.
Loving God, we look to you…receive our prayer.
Loving God, in a moment of silence before You we remember all who are in need of our prayers, (pause). All those known to us personally. (pause) We especially prayer for doctors, nurses, paramedics, emergency workers and carers. May they rejoice in the skills you have given them which enables them to bring hope, healing and wholeness to those in their care.
Loving God, we look to you…..receive our prayer.
Merciful God, when someone we love dies, help us to remember that Your Son is preparing a place for us to live with You. Thank You that it will be more than just a wonderful place. It is where we will live with You and know You forever.
Loving God, we look to you…..receive our prayer.
Gracious God, thank You for Your Word and its powerful influence in our lives. Help us to learn to put its truth into practice as we go from this church and out into the world to live the week ahead.
Loving God, we look to you…..receive our prayer.
Merciful father: accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen
