John 11.25–26
Collect
Life-giving God,
your Son came into the world
to free us all from sin and death:
breathe upon us with the power of your Spirit,
that we may be raised to new life in Christ,
and serve you in holiness and righteousness all our days;
through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – Violet
Readings: Ezekiel 37.1-14; Psalm 130; Romans 8.6-11; John 11.1-45
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh Nation, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.
A note from Helen
How do you respond when what you expect others to do, or what you expect to occur in a given situation, does not pan out as you thought. Are you upset. Do you perhaps become angry. Maybe you ‘vent’ at the person or the world in general. Maybe you just accept it quietly, and keep it bottled up inside. What do you do when God does not do what you expect. Are your responses pretty much the same or are they somehow different.
Martha and Mary had an expectation that, having told Jesus that their brother was at the point of death, he would immediately ‘down tools’ and rush to be with them and save him from death. But Jesus had other plans. Good plans. And those good plans had a very specific outcome in mind. Sometimes, when what we ‘expect’ God to do, or what we ‘want’ God to do, does not go to ‘our’ plan, we need to be ready to accept, ‘Ok God, in your time, according to your will’.

This week’ Intercessions: Prepared by Jan A
At this Lenten time as we prepare to celebrate the fulfillment of your promised sacrifice of your Son for our sin, strengthen our faith that we may put our trust wholly in you.
Heavenly Father, renew us daily and let us live according to your will.
Almighty God, who created our Earth and the entire universe, we thank you for the beauty of the life giving land in which we live. Guide us to care for it and conserve resources so that all may share in the abundance of your creation.
Heavenly Father, renew us daily and let us live according to your will.
Holy God, we pray for all those in positions of authority. May the leaders of all nations look to fulfill your purpose and will. Guide those in leadership in your church, especially we pray for Archbishop Philip, regional Bishop John and our locum priest, Reverend Helen. May all those in leadership in our local parish, as part of the worldwide Anglican Community reflect your love and sacrifice.
Heavenly Father, renew us daily and let us live according to your will.
Loving God, as you wept in love for Mary, Martha and Lazarus, fill us with love and compassion for the sick and needy in our community. We thank you for all who care for the sick or elderly, as they minister to those in their care.
Heavenly Father, renew us daily and let us live according to your will.
Eternal God, help us to be like Ezekiel and Mary and Martha trusting in your loving promises. We thank you for each of our loved ones who have gone before us. You have promised to love and comfort us in our time of grief. Help us to show your love to those who grieve. Especially we remember those whose Year’s Mind occurs at this time.
Heavenly Father, renew us daily and let us live according to your will.
Compassionate God, you have promised to hear our prayers, Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
