DAILY BREAD
The Lord’s prayer is something we pray in church every Sunday and many of us pray it at least daily, if not more frequently.
So it’s worth reflecting on and at our two morning services last Sunday, we began a three week sermon series based on the Lord’s prayer.
This week we are looking at two big lines in the middle of that prayer. ‘Give us today our daily bread’ and ‘Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.’
We are doing something different at the 4pm service this Sunday because we blitzed through the whole prayer in one service last week and as we did that we thought about what ‘our daily bread’ means. Those who were there may remember that I brought along some home-baked bread (a bit like the one on the cover) as a visual aid and used the ingredients as a visual aid to demonstrate that God does not just want us to pray for bread but for all the ingredients that mean that you might have life and have it to the full.
God encourages us to ask for all things in prayer but, as well as reinforcing that message, this Sunday we are going to be wrestling with some of the problems we might have with prayer, like:
If God is all-knowing and all-loving, why do we need to ask?
Or, If God can answer prayers, why doesn’t He always answer them?
We’ll also be looking at the idea of forgiveness and trying to get more honest about who we really need to forgive in our lives and why it’s so crucial.
I can’t promise you I’ll give you perfect answers but maybe God will as we reflect and pray over the Lord’s prayer this Sunday.

This week’s intercessions: Prepared by Jan
Loving God who created the universe, help us to be worthy stewards of your creation. Help us, Loving Father, to care for all aspects of our world, the air, water and land and all plant and animal life. Guide us to live sustainably for your glory today and forever.
Our Father in heaven, focus our lives on you we pray.
Loving God who sought to dwell among your people, guide us to be your hands and feet and heart of love on Earth as we seek to reflect your love to those we meet each day. We pray for the Worldwide Anglican Communion and our guides, Archbishop Phillip, Regional Bishop John, Reverend Tom, John and Allan. Bless our congregation as we daily seek to live our lives to your glory.
Our Father in heaven, focus our lives on you we pray.
Loving God, who sees our motives for all we think and say and do, fill us with an appreciation for all we have each day. As our physical and spiritual needs are satisfied by you, may we seek to satisfy the physical and spiritual needs of those who do not know you as their Heavenly Father.
Our Father in heaven, focus our lives on you we pray.
Loving God, we thank you daily for how much you love and care for each one of us. In sending your son, our Lord Jesus Christ to die on the cross, you forgave all our sins, the largest debt ever. Help us to forgive with the same amazing love.
Our Father in heaven, focus our lives on you we pray.
Loving Father, we pray for healing for all who are suffering from illness or as the result of wars. We thank you for your servants who have gone before us to dwell in your house forever. We especially remember those whose years mind occurs at this time. We bring before you those close to us who we name aloud or in the silence of our hearts.
Our Father in heaven, focus our lives on you we pray.
Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers.
Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

August Retiring Collection: AUSNEP
Whilst Nepal is rich in culture, tradition & heritage - a beautiful country, located in the southern part of Asia, land-locked between China, Tibet & India, it is one of the poorest countries in the world, & one of the least developed. Ausnep's vision is to provide a health link between two countries; providing free surgeries, pain management interventions, dental procedures, & public health to those who have no means to access health care, in both remote & urban regions of Nepal. Ausnep also provides ongoing education to health professionals. Speak to Kristy or Cy for more info.
Parish Keys
Over the years many keys to the church and buildings around St George’s have been given out to those with responsibilities that required them to have access, at the time. We no longer have any keys to give out to those who might now need access. The nature of our key system means that each key cost $25 to cut, so it is in our best interests to avoid such an expense. If you are in possession of a key that you no longer, or rarely, need we would greatly appreciate it‘s return to the parish office.
