We are a Christian faith community living in the way of Christ accepting and welcoming all in loving service, growing Christ’s future on Earth.
Sentence for the Day
‘Come, let us return to the Lord,
that we may live before him’.
Hosea 6.1a, 2b
Collect of the Day
Grant, O merciful God,
that your people may have that mind that was in Christ Jesus,
who emptied himself, and took the form of a servant,
and in humility became obedient even to death.
For you have highly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,
Jesus Christ, the Lord;
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, in everlasting glory. Amen.
Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – Green
Readings:
Nehemiah 2:1-8; Psalm 137; Luke 9:57-62;
Exodus 17:1-7; Psalm 78:1-4, 11-16; Philippians 2:1-13; Matthew 21:13-32
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh language region, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today.
A note from Helen
Have you ever had anyone challenge you with the question – who said you could do that. Now even if you are doing what you are supposed to be doing, or doing something that is perfectly reasonable and allowable, that question instantly puts you on the defensive. Somehow you feel like you need to ‘justify’ your actions. Jesus did not buy into this challenge, instead he turned it back on those who asked the question. I will tell you if you answer this question for me(Matt 21:24). And, of course, the question calls into question their actions toward John the Baptist, toward the teachings of Jesus, calls into question their actions in ‘doing what they preach’ and even their actions toward those ‘sinful’ people Jesus is associating with. Jesus challenges them, you who ‘know the Scriptures’ are less willing to ‘do’ the will of God than those who ‘know’ they are sinful, those who ‘know’ they are not worthy of God’s blessing or mercy. So which camp do I fall into? That remains a daily challenge for me.

Intercessions – prepared by Anne
Holy God you made our world to be like a vineyard and choose a people to be its tenants. May we who are now the workers in that vastly changed vineyard prove to be worthy of the work you trust us to do in Jesus’ name.
Almighty God, we pray for our church; that Christ may be the cornerstone of all that we do in his name. May we, his living church be the solid blocks of a spiritual community which continues to hold fast in an ever-secular world.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer
Creator God we pray for all the countries that are going through conflict and political instability. We ask for peace to be restored. Grant wisdom and integrity to world leaders so that they will work for the good of the people they govern and serve.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer
Father God, we thank you for the joy of human love, and for all those among whom we live and work. We pray particularly for loved ones who worry us with their health, or circumstances, or life direction. We pray for those among our friends and families who do not know you, or whose faith has been shaken.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer
Gracious God, friend of those in need, your Son Jesus can free us from our burdens and heal our bodies and spirits. We pray for those still burdened, those seeking healing, those in need within the church and the world. We pray too for those suffering from addiction of any kind and ask that you help them to put the temptation of Satan and the world behind them.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer
Merciful God, as we pray for all departed this life help us to know Christ and the power of his resurrection. May those who have shared his sufferings have become like him in his death, and through that suffering and sharing attained the resurrection from the dead.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, send us out with confidence in your word, to tell the world of your saving acts, and bring glory to your name. Amen.
(Prayer for Archbishop-Elect – Rev’d Helen)
Merciful father: accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen
