Sentence for the Day
Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labour for that which does not satisfy? Eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.

Isaiah 55:2

Collect
Living God,

whose Son Jesus fed the hungry

with the bread of his life

and the word of his kingdom:

renew your people with your heavenly grace,

and in all our weakness

sustain us with your true and living bread,

Jesus Christ our Lord;

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Intercessions Prepared by John Noble
We give thanks to God for the wonderful world in which we live, surrounded by so much beauty if only we can pause to notice it. We pray that as our lives become longer and we accumulate more material wealth we do not damage the resources which we must leave to those who will follow.
Lord, in your mercy.... Hear our prayer
We thank God that we live in peace and prosperity here in Australia and we pray for all those areas where there is conflict and civil strife. Particularly we pray for the Middle East where the danger of widespread war is becoming closer. We pray for those who are involved in efforts to keep the peace and seek just solutions to the conflicts. We pray for so many innocent civilians who are governed by militant and corrupt governments with whom they totally disagree, but who inflict so much hardship on their populations.
Lord, in your mercy.... Hear our prayer
We pray for our church as part of the world wide Anglican Communion, and for all its leaders. We pray for positive outcomes from the recent Diocesan Synod and for all who are working actively to maintain the good works done by so many voluntary groups within their communities. We pray for our Archbishop Jeremy, our Bishop John, our priest Helen and our parish council.
Lord, in your mercy.....Hear our  prayer
We thank God for our health and strength and pray for all those who are suffering from long- or short-term illness. We pray for all places of healing and treatment, and for those who work there, doctors, nurses and other medical staff. We pray for all those who care for the elderly and others in their own homes, particularly those who find such a burden too heavy. Today we pray for...and any others known to us at this time.
Lord, in your mercy....Hear our  prayer
We pray for our local communities, here on the mountain and around Canungra, the emergency service workers and so many others who help in our daily lives but whose contribution we take for granted.  We pray for those who make decisions that affect our lives locally, that they make take notice of the opinions of those who have elected them, even if they do not agree with their ideas. Lord, in your mercy.... Hear our prayer
We thank God for the lives of those who have been influential in our lives but are no longer with us, and for those whose year’s mind occurs at this time
Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers. Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Year’s Mind Anniversaries this month:

A note from Helen
Our readings today bring us ‘face to face’ with sin and grace. When we recognise our fallibility, we open ourselves to grace beyond our efforts, we find the transformative energy emerging from a grace and power greater than our own. We may not feel like we deserve God’s grace, but God’s grace gives us new life and a new orientation in our brokenness. Nathan challenges David’s sin – both his actions regarding Bathsheba, and the cover-up he engineered when he ordered the murder of Uriah. The prophet convicts David of his misdeeds and tells him there will be ‘hell to pay’. Both David’s hidden and intentional sin have consequences. And this passage convict all of us as well. Even if our ‘sins’ are minor, unintentional or motivated by love. Thomas Merton speaks of the ‘guilty bystander’ and all of us, by our actions or omissions, indirectly leave a trail of tears. None of us is innocent, even though some of our ‘sins’ are hidden or leave little damage behind them. We are all in need of healing grace to begin again with new and transformed lives.
