Grant, O Lord,

that we may see in you the fulfilment of all our need,

one God, now and for ever. Amen.

A note from Helen
Paul’s letter to the Ephesians contains some good ‘down to earth’ practical advice on how they should live their lives. And it is advice that is good for us to hear, and follow, too. He starts by telling them there should be no deceit or pretence in their relationship with each other. It is ok to be angry, but don’t let that anger be an excuse for behaviour that is not acceptable. Work honestly. Let your words be words that ‘build’ rather than ‘tear down’. Become ‘big-hearted’, compassionate, tolerant, forgiving. Model yourself on God – the God you have seen in Christ. All good advice, and when we explore our lives, we can ask ourselves whether or not we are becoming people who reflect this outlook on life.

 Intercessions Prepared by Peta Tierney
Heavenly Father, we bring our prayers to you today, confident that you hear us.

We pray for our marvellous Earth, the work of your hands. We pray for decisions that will protect water, arable lands, and the earth’s creatures. We pray for people and animals in areas of conflict and brutality. We pray for the people of Gaza and Ukraine.

Heavenly Father, hear our prayers.

We pray for the worldwide Anglican Communion, for Justin, the Archbishop of Canterbury, for Jeremy, our Archbishop, for John, our regional bishop and for our priest, Helen. We pray for our parish council as they make decisions on our behalf.

Heavenly Father, hear our prayers.

We pray for Australia, our neighbourhoods and communities, and especially for those in need, for those experiencing violence, for the sick and dying. We pray especially for……

Heavenly Father, hear our prayers.

Bless and comfort those who mourn the painful loss of loved ones. We pray for those whose year’s mind falls this month. We give thanks for their lives following you, and for the place you keep for us when our time comes to join you.

Heavenly Father, hear our prayers, and grant that what we have asked in faith, we may by your grace receive.
