Sentence for the Day

Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17

Collect

Cleanse our consciences,

O Lord, and enlighten our hearts

through the daily presence of

your Son Jesus Christ,

that when he comes in glory

to be our judge

we may be found undefiled and acceptable in his sight;

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,

now and for ever. Amen.

Season of Creation Collect:

God, Creator of our common home,

your boundless love

includes everyone.

Open our hearts and minds to your generous will that we may proclaim Christ’s love and justice

through words and actions.

May we serve the needs of our neighbours within the Community of all Creation and may justice flow down like rivers. Amen

Intercessions  - prepared by Anne King

Heavenly Father, as we mark this Father’s Day, we do so on this World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.

Heavenly Father, we pray for all fathers around the world and in our own families, that they may be men of faith, protective of their families and role models of integrity for their children.

Lord, hear us.  Lord, hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, we pray for the world which is the common home for all peoples, that together we will live its theme for this year, Hope and Act with Creation, so that we preserve it for future generations.

Lord, hear us.  Lord, hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, we pray for those places in the world where creation has been destroyed or compromised by war, by natural disasters or neglect, that through scientists, environmentalists, politicians and citizens working together, all that is good will be restored.

Lord, hear us.  Lord, hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, we pray for your worldwide church: for our sisters and brothers in Christ, for Jeremy (Archbishop), John (Regional Bishop) and Helen (our Priest), and for the peoples of this parish.

Lord, hear us.  Lord, hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, we pray for departed fathers of all present, for fathers who have died in present wars and natural disasters, for fathers who died alone and afraid, that they will all be gathered into the heavenly Father’s home.

We also remember today all who are in trouble, need and sickness.  Let them be filled with patience and joy in your presence as they wait for your healing touch.  Today we especially pray for those who we name aloud………. or in the silence of our hearts.

Lord, hear us.  Lord, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers.

Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Year’s Mind Anniversaries this month:

Joy Powell, William Harris Wheildon, Laurel Youngman, Riley Aiden Conn

A note from Helen

How do we keep ourselves “unstained by the world”?

Through prayer and listening to Christ’s voice above all others, especially the voices of the world that tempt us away from the voice of our Lord.

Make clean our hearts, O God, and renew a right spirit within us that we may seek to serve you in joy and gladness.
