We are a Christian faith community living in the way of Christ accepting and welcoming all in loving service, growing Christ’s future on Earth.
Sentence for the Day
Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.
Mark 9:35
Collect
God and Father of all,
you have taught us through your Son
that the last shall be first,
and have made a little child the measure of your kingdom:
give us the wisdom from above,
so that we may understand
that in your sight the one who serves
is the greatest of all.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
Season of Creation Collect:
God, creator of the universe:
Fill us with your love for the whole of creation,
Awake in us the passion to work for your world
with passion and boldness.
Lift us up on eagles’ wings,
so that we may not be overwhelmed by the task ahead.
In the power of the Holy Spirit who renews the face of the Earth.
Amen.
Liturgy: via PowerPoint + APBA Colour – Green

Intercessions - prepared by Peta Tierney
We rejoice and give thanks to you our heavenly Father for the gift of our saviour and risen Lord, Jesus Christ. We stumble in living lives according to your will, but we are precious in your sight and we trust in you. Guide us in our actions and choices.
Heavenly Father, hear our prayer.
We rejoice and give thanks to you our heavenly Father for your wondrous gift of the world. Help us to honour and safeguard all of your creation. We pray for the just share of the earth’s resources to sustain wild creatures and ecosystems, and for clean water and arable land for all nations and peoples to live with human dignity. We pray for peace and tolerance in place of war and brutality; we pray especially for peace in Gaza, Ukraine and Sudan. We pray for those living in fear and without hope.
Heavenly Father, hear our prayer.
We give thanks to you our heavenly Father for your gift of your church, for church leaders, for your servants Archbishop Jeremy, Regional Bishop John and Rev. Helen, and for all in this place who use their time and talents to honour and serve you.
Heavenly Father, hear our prayer.
We rejoice and give thanks to you our heavenly Father for your gift of our safe communities and neighbourhoods, for good healthcare, for the abundance we all share. We pray for those who are marginalised from this abundance, and those who are in pain, chronically ill, or dying. We pray especially for…. and for any others known to us whom we name aloud or in the silence of our hearts….
Heavenly Father, hear our prayer.
We rejoice and give thanks to you our heavenly Father for your gift of everlasting life. We remember all the saints who have lived and died in your name especially this week your servants Hildegard and Matthew, and those whose year’s mind occurs at this time. Comfort those who grieve for loved ones.
Heavenly father, hear the prayers we bring before you and guide our hearts and minds as we follow you.

A note from Helen
In the twenty-first century, with our different understanding of gender roles, this reading from Proverbs sounds harsh and ‘out of step’ with our understanding of marriage and partner relationships. It sets the bar high for both wives and husbands. She/He is a home manager, gourmet cook, artisan, businessperson, and moral example to the community. This passage is aspirational for men and women alike in their domestic life, parenting, community service and professions. A life of integrity has all the pieces fitting, but not in a ‘pre-determined’ way; it may even defy societal norms; roles may be reversed. This passage is about living your life with integrity, listening for God’s vision and embodying it in ordinary ways, done lovingly without specific gender roles. The letter of James tells us wisdom involves gentleness of spirit and care for the well-being of others. It is born of kindness to friend and foe alike. As we draw close to God, through prayer and meditation, we are awakened to God’s vision for our lives as a whole and in moment-by-moment decisions. We have the choice to live mindfully and with self-awareness. Mindful living can be cultivated by the daily practice of pausing before retiring to review our day, examining our times of nearness and distance from God, praying for forgiveness and illumination and asking for wisdom, through the practice of the ‘examen’. And this examen can be both personal as well as global, addressing both the macro and micro.
