We are a Christian faith community living in the way of Christ accepting and welcoming all in loving service, growing Christ’s future on Earth.

Sentence for the Day

As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts,’ says the Lord.

Isaiah 55:9

Collect

O God, the fountain of life,

to a humanity parched with thirst

you offer the living water that springs from the Rock,

our Saviour Jesus Christ:

stir up within your people the gift of your Spirit, that we may profess our faith with freshness and announce with joy the wonder of your love.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,

who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Hope 25 prayer

God of Hope

you call on us to be your witnesses in this uncertain world:

by your Sprit awaken in us a true vision of your kingdom

a greater certainty of our salvation, and a deeper dedication to your service:

that through our words and actions the same Spirit may

bring many who are lost to be found and for them to celebrate the hope that we can only have in Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray.

Amen.

Pew Reflection

Our readings today join grace, threat, and hope.  Yes, we give in to temptation, yes we can sometimes be unfruitful, and we even turn away from God, but when we repent, God provides us with the strength and courage to begin again.  Grace is not dependent on our efforts, grace is always there, but the energy and landscape of grace relates to our openness.  God always acts positively in our lives.  Isaiah declares that ‘God’s ways are not our ways’, instead of the punishment we deserve, we receive grace.  Everyone, no matter what their sin or crime, will get a second chance (and another and another) and we will be restored into full membership in God’s realm.  Isaiah counsels – call upon God, God is near and will respond.  God’s thoughts and ways are bigger than ours, and different from what we expected.  God’s morality embraces the outcast and the outsider, it turns upside down our moral conventions and welcomes those we condemn as morally suspect.

Post Cyclone Assistance

Please let us know if you are in need of assistance following cyclone Alfred.

Year’s Mind Anniversaries this month: Christopher Fulcher, Geoff Perkins. Tim Lyne, Matthew Power, Amber Mailer, Doug Hoare, John Vance

Intercessions:  prepared by Di Ayscough

Heavenly Father: We gather here today in your name to thank you and praise you for all you offer us. We are blessed and have so much to be thankful for and so much to celebrate. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for our beautiful country filled with natures beauty of flowers, trees, birds, and wildlife. Thank you for our families and our friends – all of whom we can share our love with and reflect our Christian faith through what we do. We are truly thankful for all the volunteers and service people who have helped during the recent cyclone.

Heavenly Father, refresh us in our faith and show your glory to all the world.

Heavenly Father: Help us in all our interactions with one another to have humble and gentle hearts. Grant us patience for one another, sharing with one another in love. Grant the Church Body, unity and wisdom. May, Archbishop Jeremy continue to walk humbly with you as he continues his calling to lead the Church, and us, to a place where we treat all, with dignity and care. We ask for your strength and wisdom as we face life’s daily challenges.

Heavenly Father, refresh us in our faith and show your glory to all the world.

Heavenly Father: We pray for our own nation. Australia is unique, it has bushfires and floods, it has the effects of climate change. It has a great diversity of landscape and a great diversity of people and yet, we all have a common purpose, to respect each other and honour our differences. We ask that St George’s and St Luke’s continue, and remain willing to support our local community and help the many people in need, especially since Cyclone Alfred has left a trail of destruction.

Heavenly Father, refresh us in our faith and show your glory to all the world.

Heavenly Father: As we go forth into the world this day, let our every word be a prayer, and our every act be testimony to your love and truth. We hold before you those who are homeless, the hungry, and those who face hardship through rising costs. Draw near and comfort them in spirit and bless those who work to provide, shelter, food, and friendship. Look with compassion upon all who turn to you for help.

Heavenly Father, refresh us in our faith and show your glory to all the world.

Heavenly Father: Your word says, Jesus, took on human flesh and suffered the worst kind of death. We ask that our relatives and friends who have passed from this life may come to share your eternal happiness. Welcome them into your care, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain but fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit forever. We remember those whose years mind occur at this time.

Heavenly Father, refresh us in our faith and show your glory to all the world.

Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers. Grant what we have asked in faith, we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
