Sentence for the Day

Jesus said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.’ John 20:27

Collect

Living God,

for whom no door is closed,

no heart is locked:

draw us beyond our doubts,

till we see your Christ

and touch his wounds where they bleed in others.

This we ask through

Christ our Saviour,

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.

Amen.

Hope 25 prayer

God of Hope

you call on us to be your

witnesses in this uncertain world:

by your Sprit awaken in us a true vision of your kingdom a greater certainty of our salvation, and a deeper dedication to your service:

that through our words and actions the same Spirit may bring many who are lost to be found and for them to celebrate the hope that we can

only have in Jesus Christ,

in whose name we pray.

Amen.

Readings: Acts 5:27-32; Psalm 118:14-29; Revelation 1:4-8;

      John 20:19-31

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh language region, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today

Intercessions: Prepared by Di Ayscough

Living God, we come before you today in reverence, filled with humility in the face of your greatness. We give you thanks for your mercy, and pray your Holy Spirit is with us, so we may do your will in every thought and action this day. Refresh us Lord in our faith, and give us strength and power to love others.

Living God, we promise, with your help and grace, to be fearless in the world; for if you are with us, who can be against us? We do not hesitate to call upon you, for your power and love to see us through anything this world can bring against us. This is a great gift you offer us all.

You died and rose again to give us peace and forgiveness.

Refresh us Lord in our faith, and give us strength and power to love others.

Living God, we were born a weak, defenceless child. From birth until now your love has illumined our path and has guided us towards the light of eternity. From birth until now your gifts have been showered upon us. From birth until now you have been there every step of our life's journey. From birth until now we have a reason to say thank you and we, together with all who have and will come to know you, are truly thankful.

Refresh us Lord in our faith, and give us strength and power to love others.

Living God, let us not forget you as we go forth into the world this day. Lord, may our every word be a prayer, and our every act be testimony to your love and truth. Just as Mary Magdalene wept at the empty tomb, but rejoiced when she saw Jesus, so too we rejoice that you are the risen Lord. Refresh us Lord in our faith, and give us strength and power to love others.

Living God, you bestowed on us the grace of Baptism and the Seal of the Holy Spirit; who instils in us the desire to seek, and help those who have lost a family member or a close friend. Luke writes in part (c6.v38) Give to others, and God will give to you, the measure you use for others is the one God will use for you. With this as our guide, enable us always, to speak and act with a pure spirit, with humility, patience, love, gentleness, peace, courage, and wisdom: Refresh us Lord in our faith, and give us strength and power to love others.

Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers.

Grant what we have asked in faith, we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Pew Reflection

Let us keep the Easter celebrations going, resurrection is a present and future reality as well as a past one.  Jesus is born in us and resurrection gives us new life.  Christ the Lord is risen today, and every day.  Resurrection is just a breath away.  Jesus ‘breathes’ new life into the disciples today.  Easter is embodied.  It is known by God’s breathing in us.  It is known by embracing the pain of our world, in God’s love for the world, God enables us to have the stature to become God’s partners in healing the world, practicing resurrection with each new day.  Breathing deeply, we can face our doubts, knowing that we are never outside the scope of inspiration.
