Sentence for the Day

To the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honour and glory and might for ever and ever.

Revelation 5:13

Collect

Almighty God,

through your only Son you overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life:

grant that we who celebrate our Lord’s resurrection, may, through the renewing power of your Spirit, rise from the death of sin to the life of righteousness; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Hope 25 prayer

God of Hope

you call on us to be your

witnesses in this uncertain world:

by your Spirit awaken in us a true vision of your kingdom a greater certainty of our salvation, and a deeper dedication to your service:

that through our words and actions the same Spirit may bring many who are lost to be found and for them to celebrate the hope that we can

only have in Jesus Christ,

in whose name we pray.

Amen.

Readings: Acts 9:1-6; Psalm 30; Revelation 5:6-14; John 21:1-19

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh language region, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today

Intercessions: Prepared by Jan Armstrong

Creator God, we praise you for a world that is wonderfully made. We thank you for life giving rain that waters our land, for warming sun and fertile soil. Help us to care for all of your creation, for the plants, animals and people as we live our daily lives.

Loving Heavenly Father, may your name be praised in all the Earth.

Holy God, as Christians around Australia and the world gather today to sing your praises and be renewed in their faith may we support and care for one another. We pray for the world wide Anglican Communion especially in areas of conflict and war. May those who are living through dark times feel your comforting presence. We pray for Archbishop Jeremy, Regional Bishop John and for Reverend Helen and her family.

Loving Heavenly Father, may your name be praised in all the Earth.

Caring God, as we live our daily lives, by our actions, may we so witness to your presence in our lives, that we may shine brightly for you. We pray that for those who we live and work with each day, we may be like the bright light that stopped Saul in his tracks, as we reflect your love for all people. Help us to care for the physical and spiritual needs of our community. Bless all those who work as members of our local community both paid and voluntarily.

Loving Heavenly Father, may your name be praised in all the Earth.

Loving God, we pray for all who are sick or whose personal needs are on our minds at this time, that your healing hand may be upon them.

We thank you for all health professionals.

Loving Heavenly Father, may your name be praised in all the Earth.

Loving God, we thank you for all those who have lived their lives reflecting your love and who are now dwelling with you for eternity.

We especially remember those whose Year’s mind occurs at this time.

Loving Heavenly Father, may your name be praised in all the Earth.

Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Pew Reflection

Our readings today are jammed packed with mysticism.  They express to us that we encounter the Living God through revelation and transformation, angelic praise, and ethics and spirituality.  We are all mystics, if we open ourselves to the Holy, and claim our unique avenue to the Divine.  Paul’s encounter with the bright light of Christ changed the course of history, giving birth to a global faith.  His encounter is both transformational and mystical.  The author of Revelation is also transformed by a mystical encounter with the divine.  He is ushered into God’s presence, experiencing angelic praises and hearing the cries of creation.  In our Gospel, the disciples are again greeted by the risen Jesus.  He makes a meal for them.  Followers of Jesus are called to reach out to the world, sharing good news for body, mind and spirit, they are asked to be heavenly minded and earthly good.
