Sentence for the Day
God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts,
crying, ‘Abba! Father!’ Galatians 4:6
Collect
Father, we praise you,
that through your Word and
Holy Spirit you created all things;
you reveal your salvation
in all the world through Jesus Christ,
the Word made flesh;
through your Holy Spirit you give us
a share in your life and love:
fill us with the vision of your glory,
that we may always serve
and praise you,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
Hope 25 prayer
God of Hope
you call on us to be your
witnesses in this uncertain world:
by your Spirit awaken in us a true vision of your kingdom a greater certainty of our salvation, and a deeper dedication to your service:
that through our words and actions the same Spirit may bring many who are lost to be found and for them to celebrate the hope that we can only have in Jesus Christ,
in whose name we pray.
Amen.

Pew Reflection
When we think of the Trinity, do we really give much thought to the three in their separate ‘essences’ or do we just think of God as ‘whole creator’ and parent of everything, and Jesus as the ‘’the one who showed the way’, immanent in our world, without giving much thought to the Spirit’s role. We often speak of the story of creation revealing to us that the Son was present ‘from the beginning’, but our Proverbs reading reveals to us that the Spirit was also there ‘from the beginning’. And Psalm 8 proclaims the grandeur of God, it speaks of Sophia, Divine Wisdom, as God’s creative companion. God does not have ‘gender’, not one or the other, Divine creativity embraces the whole of the creaturely experience. Proverbs 8 affirms the feminine creativity of God, from the heart of divinity she creates alongside the Parent/Creator, bringing order to the universe and delight to the creator. And Romans 5 describes the immanence of God as Spirit, God pours God’s Spirit into our hearts, giving us courage, patience, and fortitude.

Over the next 3 months there are two major DGS training missions underway in Africa that need financial support to show that a well-developed DGS program achieves wonderful results. One in the south of Tanzania in a mountainous rural community and the other in Nairobi, in a huge slum. Both are for the first time doing training in Swahili language, the result of an enormous translation effort!
