We are a Christian faith community living in the way of Christ accepting and welcoming all in loving service, growing Christ’s future on Earth.
Sentence for the Day
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; and he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
Acts 10:38
Collect
Pour out upon us, O God,
the power and wisdom of your Spirit,
so that we, who have been baptised into Christ
and made your children through faith,
may know your Son’s power to heal, and,
being made one in him,
may overcome all barriers that divide us;
through our Lord Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Pew Reflection
Great religious traditions often begin with mystical experiences and are sustained through an ongoing commitment to spiritual practices. Encounters with God challenge us into action, and mysticism inspires mission. Elijah encounters an angelic being from whom he receives guidance, and he experiences God’s presence in sheer silence. Jesus encounters a man possessed by many demons and he proceeds to communicate with them, before exorcising them. Authentic mysticism widens rather than constricts our circle of ethical considerations. Any encounter with God will inspire growth in wisdom and stature, it can transform and empower.

Creator God, we thank you for the seasons of our world as they allow for times of rest and refreshment for the Earth. We pray for all those seeking warmth during this winter season. Help us to show your love to all around us each day. May we daily take time to bask in the warmth of your love and thank you for providing for all our physical needs.
Loving Heavenly Father, hear our prayers, that we may share your love always.
Holy God, as Christians around Australia and the world gather today to sing your praises and be renewed in their faith may we support and care for one another. We pray especially for those in areas of conflict and war. May those who are living through dark times feel your comforting presence. We pray for Archbishop Jeremy, Regional Bishop John and for Reverend Helen.
Loving Heavenly Father, hear our prayers that we may share your love always.
Caring God, may we, like Elijah, hear your gentle whisper and be comforted. Remind us to daily spend time listening to you and finding comfort in your presence. Strengthen our love for you as we rejoice in the freedom freely given by the sacrifice of your Son, Jesus Christ.
Loving Heavenly Father, hear our prayers that we may share your love always.
Healing God, we pray for all who are unwell. May your healing hand be on them all as they seek your face. We thank you for all hospital staff who daily go above and beyond to care for those in need.
Loving Heavenly Father, hear our prayers that we may share your love always.
Loving God, we thank you for all those who lived their lives reflecting your love and who are now dwelling with you for eternity. We especially remember those whose Year’s mind occurs at this time.
Loving Heavenly Father, hear our prayers that we may share your love always.
Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Over the next 3 months there are two major DGS training missions underway in Africa that need financial support to show that a well-developed DGS program achieves wonderful results. One in the south of Tanzania in a mountainous rural community and the other in Nairobi, in a huge slum. Both are for the first time doing training in Swahili language, the result of an enormous translation effort!
