We are a Christian faith community living in the way of Christ accepting and welcoming all in loving service, growing Christ’s future on Earth.

Sentence for the Day

Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for Jesus’ sake will find it. Matthew 10:39

Collect

O God, the light of the

minds that know you,

the life of the souls that love you,

the strength of the

thoughts that seek you:

help us so to know you

that we may truly love you,

and so to love you

that we may fully serve you,

whose service is perfect freedom;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Commitment Collect

Generous God,

whose hand is open to fill all things living with plenteousness:

make us ever thankful

for your goodness,

and grant that we,

remembering the account that we must one day give,

may be faithful stewards

of your bounty;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Pew Reflection

Today’s readings take us beyond the ‘ordinary’ way of viewing life and the world and ask us to embark on new directions of faithfulness to God.  We are invited to awaken higher levels of reality and believe in great things, and to know that great things can be hidden in ordinary moments.  We are challenged to trust God’s presence working creatively and redemptively in our own freedom.  We are asked to live by the spirit and in life-giving ways and to expect great things from ourselves as well as God.  Our readings take us into the mystic and beyond everyday experience, inviting us to accept and enter the realm of the mystical, miraculous, and magical; the realm of paranormal experience.

Thought provoker:

What does ‘serving in love and hope’ mean for us/you?

Synod: 27-29 June

Rev’d Helen, Kristy deFreitas and Peta Tierney will be attending Synod this weekend. Please keep the business of Synod in your prayers.

Intercessions: Prepared by Di Ayscough

Heavenly Father, as we gather together in your presence we pray

continually for your Son as our Saviour to bring healing to all wounds, make whole all that is broken, speak truth to all who are disillusioned, and shed light in every darkness. Let all creation see your glory and know your Son.

For your love and goodness.  We give you thanks, O God.

Heavenly Father, we pray for all good and faithful church leaders to find their strength. Guide, and bless them and all who act on your behalf, not just this day but always. Fill them with holy wisdom, gentle strength, steadfast care, and patient hope; and grant, in their care, all may find protection, guidance and love. We especially pray for Archbishop Jeremy, Bishop John and our priest Helen.

For your love and goodness.  We give you thanks, O God.

Heavenly Father, God of every land and nation, you have created all, and you dwell among us through Jesus Christ. Listen to the cries of those who pray to you, and grant us the strength to continue our journey, as we proclaim the greatness of your name, and give thanks for the power of your love at work in the world and in our community.

For your love and goodness.  We give you thanks, O God.

Heavenly Father, grant to all, endurance in affliction, hardship, and calamity. Instil in our mind’s true knowledge and in our hearts, perfect patience. May we be people united by the peace of Christ, ever-worshiping at your throne. Send us your Spirit of holiness, truth, and love, so we may offer help and hope as we can and be rid of our wrongdoings. May we receive the victory you have made available for all.

For your love and goodness.  We give you thanks, O God.

Heavenly Father, we know death can give way to life. Weakness can lead to strength. How can this be? We know and understand your foolishness is wiser than our wisdom. We pray for strength so we can do what is right with fellow Christians, family and friends. We pray we will help others to find you in their daily lives.

For your love and goodness.  We give you thanks, O God.

Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers. Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Over the next 3 months there are two major DGS training missions underway in Africa that need financial support to show that a well-developed DGS program achieves wonderful results. One in the south of Tanzania in a mountainous rural community and the other in Nairobi, in a huge slum. Both are for the first time doing training in Swahili language, the result of an enormous translation effort!
