We are a Christian faith community living in the way of Christ accepting and welcoming all in loving service, growing Christ’s future on Earth.

Sentence for the Day

Do to others as you would have them do to you. Love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Luke 6:31, 35

Collect

Eternal God,

you have taught us through Christ

that love is the fulfilment of the law:

help us to love you with all our heart,

with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength,

and our neighbour as ourself;

through Jesus Christ our Lord,

who lives and reigns with you

and the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.

Amen.

Commitment Collect

Generous God,

whose hand is open to fill all things living with plenteousness:

make us ever thankful

for your goodness,

and grant that we,

remembering the account that we must one day give,

may be faithful stewards

of your bounty; through

Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Readings: Amos 7:7-17; Psalm 82; Colossians 1:1-14;

      Luke 10:25-37

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh language region, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us today

Pew Reflection

The letter Paul writes to the people of Colossae is that they will live a life worthy of God.  He tells them this encompasses their whole lives, not just the ‘outward appearance’ we allow others to see.  As we prepare for Commitment Sunday next week, we are asked to reflect on how we reflect God’s love in our lives.  Am I ‘bearing fruit’ in everything I do, am I opening myself to be ‘filled with the knowledge of God’s will’.  Our commitment to God is not just monetary, it is a commitment to serve God in all we do, not just what we put in the offertory plate.  How am I serving in love and hope in this community, and does this love and hope extend to what I am offering the parish.  For this parish to serve the community in love and hope, we need people and resources, and that means you and I are asked to lovingly offer what we can to assist this parish to remain a shining light for all to see.

Thought provoker:

How do we/I communicate ‘serving in love and hope’

 to the wider community?

NOTICES:

BOOK MARKET - Saturday 2 August: This is a great opportunity to connect with the wider community. Our advertising on community sites has met with enthusiastic responses. How can you help?

1. Help stock our shelves with the recently published books you have enjoyed and are ready to hand on to others. (Leave in the box at Church.)

2. Provide a pot of soup for serving at our Book Cafe.

3. Volunteer to be rostered to serve refreshments or to staff the bookshop. (Please sign up on the list in the Church.)

Parish Council Meeting  next Sunday, July 20 at St George’s, 11:15am. Please ensure all relevant reports are submitted to Jan by Wednesday. 😊

2 Corinthians 9.6-9

The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. As it is written, ‘He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures for ever.’

A Thanksgiving for Australia, written by Rev’d Canon Aunty Lenore Parker, Anglican Diocese of Grafton, and Yaegl Elder, Maclean, NSW.

Holy God, we pray for those who need our prayers, especially ... and for those known to us whom we name aloud or in the silence of our hearts...

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We remember with love those whose year's mind occurs at this time.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

A Thanksgiving for Australia

God of Holy Dreaming, Great Creator Spirit,

from the dawn of creation

you have given your children

the good things of Mother Earth.

You spoke and the gum tree grew.

In the vast desert and dense forest,

and in cities at the water’s edge,

Creation sings your praise.

Your presence endures

as the rock at the heart of our Land.

When Jesus hung on the tree

you heard the cries of all your people

and became one with your wounded ones:

the convicts, the hunted, the dispossessed.

The sunrise of your Son coloured the earth anew,

and bathed it in glorious hope.

In Jesus we have been reconciled to you,

to each other and to your whole creation.

Lead us on, Great Spirit,

as we gather from the four corners of the earth;

enable us to walk together in trust

from the hurt and shame of the past

into the full day which has dawned in Jesus Christ.

Amen
