We are a Christian faith community living in the way of Christ accepting and welcoming all in loving service, growing Christ’s future on Earth.
Sentence for the Day
All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
Luke 14:11
Collect
O God,
you invite the humble and the sinful
to take their place in the festive assembly of the new covenant:
teach your Church always
to honour the presence of the Lord
in the poor and the outcast,
so that we may learn to recognise each other
as brothers and sisters gathered together around your table.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen
Readings: Jeremiah 2:4-13; Psalm 81:1, 10-16; Hebrews 13:1-8, 15-16; Luke 14:1,7-14
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wanggeriburra people of the Yugambeh language region, the traditional owners and ongoing custodians of the land on which we gather, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people worshipping with us tod
Pew Reflection
Jeremiah’s words here are difficult for us to hear. He describes God’s living waters and these waters are both spiritually and physically tangible; the living waters point to rivers, lakes, streams and oceans. God fills our cup with living waters but we prefer to dig our own wells, we think we can become self-sufficient, independent and use the non-human world as we want, which all leads to disaster. We need to be humble, but not passive, remembering that all good gifts come from God. What false gods are we worshipping? Where are we tempted to ‘own’ the earth and control the future? The God of the prophets cares about what we do: God feels the pain of the earth and those who suffer injustice. Human behaviours that cause poverty, and pain cause God pain. Yet we can never love God in the abstract, but love God best when we love God’s creatures. Do we want to give God a healthy or diseased world, a beautiful or ugly world?
Intercessions: prepared by Peta Tierney
Our father in heaven, we ask that you hear our prayers.
We give thanks for your wonderful gift of the earth and all its beauty and bounty which sustain us. Help us to justly share your gifts to ensure all peoples can live lives of dignity. Guide all nations in living peacefully and generously alongside others.
Our father in heaven, hear our prayer.
We give thanks for your church and the worldwide Anglican Communion, for the work of Archbishop Jeremy, Regional Bishop John and Rev Helen, and for all who do your will in this place. We pray for new Christians and for those who are persecuted for your sake. We give thanks for the loving work of your servants Marea and Ed who today are received into the Anglican Communion. Bless them.
Our father in heaven, hear our prayer.
We give thanks for warm homes and full plates, but we pray for those who are hungry, homeless, seriously ill or dying. Guide us in helping where we can. We bring before you especially … and any others known to us whom we name aloud or in the silence of our hearts…
Our father in heaven, hear our prayer.
We thank you for life, and for your promise of eternal life with you, once our earthly lives are done. We thank you for Aiden of Lindisfarne, for all your saints in every age and for those whose year’s mind occurs this month. Our father in heaven, hear our prayer, and grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

NOTICES:
Parish Name Badges
Are you wanting a parish name badge? We are about to put in an order and as there is a ‘delivery charge’, it would be best if we ordered them all at the same time. Badges are $20 each. They are white plastic and are attached with either a pin or magnet. Please place your preference on the sheet at the entrance.
ART EXHIBIT AND CAFÉ: To make the cafe run as smoothly as possible we still need a few more folks to sign up for serving.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to bake. We now have enough cakes to feed the expected multitude. 😊
If you have any cut flowers or potted plants, would you please bring them to the church on the 25th (Thursday) so that we can decorate the church.
Council plant vouchers.
Would you be willing to donate the plants you can get from the Council 'free tree' offer that comes with your recent rates notice so we can use them for fund raising. If you are not able to redeem the voucher, but do not want the trees for yourself, you could give the voucher to the office and we can redeem them (on your behalf).

Little Lukies is a church-based program, run every Monday in term time, that introduces primary school aged children to God and the church. Children are given afternoon tea when they arrive from school, followed by a game, a ‘lesson’ in the church and an activity related to the story that is taught each week. SLAngers is for high school children who meet fortnightly and are met with afternoon tea and then engage in ‘community focused’ activities and bible-based discussions.
